40th birthday party - styling advice

I'm going to my friend's 40th in August and I'm told that I need to wear something sparkly.

Not adverse to a bit of sparkle but there doesn't seem to be so much around as far as I can see as I can see as it's not Christmas. But I don't also don't want to look like a Christmas tree.

I have a lovely pair of gold heels that I have in mind. Any ideas what I could wear with them? Or should I not fixate on them and start from scratch?

I'm a size 14 (though I'm working on that) and I've had 4 kids so my abs aren't as co-operative or forgiving as they once were.

Thanks in advance

Oh, and they all live in Brighton so I feel that they're all more on trend than me. But that might not really be the case.

Budget? How tall are you? this is short on the model but they're all damned tall. Good with gold.
LBD
LB/goldD the vertical stripes could make you look much bigger than you are, or not, depends how obvious they are IRl.
blue not so handy for your shoes though

That first one is utterly lovey!

Well, I've spent a fair bit recently on an outfit for a wedding, so my budget's probably under £100 - but nearer £50 would be better. I'm 5 ft 7.
