I've bought my very first 'piece'!

I have always bought just 'clothes'. After a lifetime of buying vast quantities of crap, ultra cheap clothing (think Primark/supermarkets), I have finally decided that a good quality capsule is what I should strive for.
As such, I have today ordered the first thing that could ever be described, however loosely, as a 'piece'. A loose fitting top/t shirt in a great shape for me and in my colours which will go with skirts or trousers and ok for day and evening. Assuming it fits and looks great, I have earmarked 6 tops which are 'okish' for the bin
From Kaliko range. In the sale half price thankfully but originally £60. FOR A T SHIRT!!!!! Would link but too scared you might think it overpriced, mumsy crap but now sold out so no can do.
However, the little evil twin inside my head is panicking and telling me I'm a fool for buying overpriced stuff that is really no better
Any words of wisdom to shut her up?

In fact I have a couple of Kaliko things.

LaTrucha · 03/07/2013 13:34

I like it too. Is it see through?

Whoknowswhocares · 03/07/2013 13:58

Phew! first votes positive then. Don't know about see through as not arrived yet....... I hope not. I could wear a cami with it or embrace inner slut I suppose
Still trying to reconcile the quality/quantity argument in my head ATM!

Quality. I have just made the same move as you and it's definitely the right one. Hope the top is great on.

I have a kaliko dress that I've had for about 12 years and worn loads. If something is reasonably timeless and suits you, you can drag it out for ages! Hope you really like your top and your 'capsule' builds up nicely.

looking into my first move too!!Grin

It's 55% off and I'd say it's more of a top than a common-or-garden T-Shirt .

that wasn't in the least bit grasping at straws ,was it ? Wink

Whoknowswhocares · 05/07/2013 18:35

Woohoo, it arrived!
And I bloody LOVE it! hangs beautifully and goes with everything. Not see through
Quality all the way from now on.

It's really nice!Smile

And I reckon the enjoyment of owning it will be all the greater for knowing you have such a bargain.

I completely get what you're saying about the quality though. After too much cheapy stuff it's easy to forget what a difference in quality there is in something better made...until you put it on.

I always say good quality second hand is often better than brand new cheap.

I realised a couple of years ago (while stuck in maternity clothes) that all the clothes I have that I love are quality. I have since bought a beautiful Austin Reed lo g, wool overcoat and some Duo boots, both at ridiculous amounts off in the sale, although still pricy for me, and I feel marvellous every time I wear tfem. They are "forever" clothes. I also have some T shirts I bought in the Brora sake, which are utter rags and ver disappointing though.
