Bags/shadows under eyes - your top tips...

autumnalface · 02/07/2013 14:19

So...have realised this is my problem. My skin's not in too bad condition generally, I'm happy with my haircut, my weight is fine (at the moment) and yet I look like an old crone.

Have come to the conclusion this is mainly because I have (and have done since my 20s) dark shadows and bags under my eyes.

What can I do? Is there anything taht can make a difference short of surgery??? Water? giving up alcohol? Foods? Any treatments??? Please someone ANYTHING that might improve them

Hello, do you or have you ever used an eye cream?

By Terry under eye concealer. Made me look like a new woman A friend bought it immediately after seeing my transformation.

Costs a bomb, but lasts for aaaages.

They also offer a 45 day money back guarantee if your not satisfied.

Make up! There are some brilliant YouTube tutorials you could watch for tips. Personally, I like a creamy concealer, nothing like touch éclat though....makes me look weird and clown like, loving a mac one at the minute.
If you discover the trick, let me know!

puffylovett · 03/07/2013 20:05

I bought the boots no 7 version of touché éclat, it's quite good. Really though, stacks of water plenty of sleep and an elimination diet - food intolerances and stress are 2 common causes.

I had a makeover in SpaceNK & I loved the Laura Mercier concealer.
It's on my list when my current one runs out.

I use the Sanctuary gel in the morning and this Garnier one at night. It's made a very noticeable difference. I've never really mastered concealer and now look at least passably awake.

Iwantmybed · 03/07/2013 20:21

I don't really have bags but use the caffeine roll on under eye stick from Aldi in the morning and love their concealer. I have to wear it every day to hide the dark circles.

I find Clinique airbrush concealer to be good. Also, a beauty therapist once told me that bags can be caused by putting on too much eye cream and also putting it too close to the eyes. Apparently it should just be dabbed around the bony eye socket bit and skin will suck up what it needs...?

BaconAndAvocado · 04/07/2013 09:57

Was recommended Benefit Erase Paste in these here parts. Tis very pricey but very effective at hiding dark circles.

Much better than Touché Éclat.

roguepixie · 04/07/2013 10:02

A lot of brands have stuff that claims to get rid of dark circles and bags - you'd have to try them to see if they worked for you.

I find when I eat lots of carbs it causes bloating which shows in my face - maybe cutting carbs would reduce congestion?

Also, and this was news some time ago, apparently Kate Moss (et al) have been known to use hemorroid cream - it tightens the skin they say? Confused

autumnalface · 04/07/2013 10:28

Shock at roguepixie!
I don't think Touche Eclat works for me at all - have tried it in the past but it just looked weird on me (And almost highlighted the bags/dark circles more!) So thank you for the other suggestions. I do like clinique and benefit stuff and have used other makeup
puffylovett where do you find out about elimination diets? I wonder if that might not be helping (although lack of sleep and stress defo!) - i blaot dreadfully after certain carbs and there's a lot of food intolerance in my family although I thought not me
