Jewellery storage - how do u keep yours?

I have amassed in my life a decent quota of jewellery from beads (eg accessorize type expense) to mid range silver (hs Samuels etc) to semi precious silver/gold and one or two 'f me' expensive bits. I keep all in their boxes and used to stuff in drawers or round socks.

Dd1 is now able to rootle through most drawers and gift holes. I was half wondering whether to get a lockable stacker type big box. I wondered what everyone else does.

Any good ideas?

I use stackers. They're expensive-ish for what they are but it's the only thing that can accomodate cuffs, earrings, bracelets, watches and rings etc without things getting all tangled.

I store bracelets, rings & earrings in a vintage jewellery box. All pendants , necklaces & beads hang on hooks. I bought a set of shabby chic wire coat hooks to use. I now find I wear them far more often.

I keep my best bits in a safe. I don't have loads of best bits, but unless I am wearing them, they go in the safe, which is wall mounted. So many people leave their jewellery on display, or in an obvious jewellery box in plain sight.

Ujj, that's my partial issue. I forget what I've got! I covet something new then realise I actually own something either the same or better!

Now with dds and they are venturing into mummy's stuff it's worse. I like the look of stackers. (Duck egg blue like Tiffany -sigh-) do they lock?

How do you keep it all out of tiny paws?

The stackers don't lock but bedside cabinets do!

Scarletohello · 29/06/2013 23:48

Unfortunately where we live, overseas, I need to keep anything I don't want to lose in a safe, behind that, in this space behind that wall that looks solid. This means I hardly ever change what I'm wearing.

Anything I have't had time to put away, because I don't want DDs to know where it is, gets put under everything in my bathroom cupboard overnight, with some cheap bead necklaces in the draws.

I also have a spare safe in plain sight with a few bits I would have thrown away because of the emotional connection and a little cash as a decoy. We've only actually been burgled once, but people have tried to get into each house we've rented since and the one we're in now.

I used to keep jewellery in my wardrobe on a shelf out of reach of tiny exploring hands.

Adora! Shock Where are you?

AdoraBell · 30/06/2013 02:06

We're in Chile, lovely place but all foreigners are viewed as Rich and therefore deserving of being burgled.

AdoraBell · 30/06/2013 02:07

By toewrags, the decent Chileans don't think that way.
