Converse and washing machines....

Are they OK to put through the washing machine? Mine are looking a bit tatty and I thought it might spruce them up a bit. I don't want to wreck them though by doing so....

I've done my white ones, the rubber trims came up very nicely, not so much the fabric though. They didn't shrink or anything.

velvetysquirrel · 28/06/2013 14:57

Thanks FoofFighter, did you put them through on a normal wash cycle?

Yes fine. Take laces out and put shoes and laces inside a knotted pillowcase. Just put on a normal wash with other clothes so they don't bang around in machine too much.

Add a towel to protect the drum and use CID on the toes and trim

velvetysquirrel · 28/06/2013 15:26

Thanks everyone

Yes both my kids converse have been through the wash, normal wash and they came up great.

Oooooh Converse thread hi-jack Blush

Are they comfy?
I'm 47yo so I do worry about being a bit 'past it' to wear them (my 11yo DD has Converse and Vans) but I need something to wear with leggings and jeans that I can walk comfortably in.

I might have to nosy into the trendy shops (unchartered territory) and try some.
Will they make my freakily skinny feet all hot and blistery?

velvetysquirrel · 28/06/2013 21:11

70, I live in mine, hence why they have become a bit tatty now. I find they are really comfortable. I'm looking for another pair (just have a black pair atm), as I wear them so much.

I always bung mine in with a normal wash, laces still in themSmile. They come out fine, no colour run or anything (mine are dark coloured ones). No shrinkage and I have washed mine many times!

FoofFighter · 29/06/2013 08:20

70, I'm 40 and I wear mine most days really. I find the hi tops (baseball boots) more comfy than the lo tops (tennis shoes). Also find they come up quite skinny but can stretch if you need them to.

I'm going to give them their maiden voyage tomorrow

velvetysquirrel · 29/06/2013 20:43
