Jewel Winter work clothes needed

Hi

I return to work soon. Fairly sure I'm a jewel winter- pale skin, near black hair, green eyes. I really suit cobalt blue, fushia and emerald. Like grey too.

I'm 30, 5ft 10 small size 12. Trousers tricky as 34 leg.

Need fairly cheap clothes that ideally would also work outside of work. Job similar to social worker/teacher so 'smart casual'

There are some really nice cobalt blue pencil skirts and pleated long/midi skirts on the Asos website atm. I just bought the midi pleated skirt and it's lovely :)

I like that skirt...how would you wear it for autumn. I'd wear with vest and flat silver sandals now.
Would it look Mumsy with black tights and ballet pumps?

Hmm, I hadn't considered autumn - atm am wearing it with a slouchy grey tshirt and silver ballet pumps with bare legs. It might work with black tights...tricky though, I think the more clothes you add the frumpier it could look, as there's a lot of material in it. I wear it with a little black leather jacket when I'm outside, which works. Might be one for warmer autumn days - September and October are often warmer than summer anyway!!

Thanks I feel really stuck in a rut! Don't want to end up in wide legged pinstripe trousers!

It might work with a black fine knit jumper and fancy pumps but I agree better with less clothes!

Just been googling midi pleated skirts and agree - plain, fine knit jumpers seem to work, also a white shirt looks quite good, and some people seem to get away with wearing them with a blazer. Wouldn't work on me as I'm petite with broad shoulders and I'd look swamped. Black ankle boots also look surprisingly good with them.

Can you wear dresses and cardigans? Wrap and shift dresses are great for work.

I have a pair of black cigarette pants trousers that are suitable for work - wear with nice cardigans/tops etc. Maybe buy black or grey trousers/jackets/skirts to wear with brightly coloured tops/cardigans/jumpers?

I'd love some dresses but I'm very willowy with broad shoulders and tall. My main difficulty is getting ones that are long enough. Shift dresses would be too formal.
I've looked at topshop tall (too random) and long tall Sally (frumpy) but no joy.
Don't think wrap dresses would suit as I'm quite small busted (30d) broad shoulders mean I need a 12 though.

Any thoughts?

Um, check out the video of the River Island one (last link) you can see EVERYTHING through it, including her stomach muscles and thong Maybe not the greatest material...I guess it's only £22 after all!

Keztrel I checked it out - eek! Reckon I would wear a size larger (well, obv I'm several sizes larger than the model, I meant if I were the model I would wear a size larger!)

Also some Spanx-type "neck to knee" control smoother underwear!

This top is lovely. There's also a lovely purple one. I only sent them back as too smart for SAHM lifestyle but would work for work.

Check out mango for tops too as I saw some that look emerld colour on there but for some reason I can't get on the website at the moment to link.
