Footwear help?

I am looking for something I think doesn't exist yet.
I have Birkenstocks and feel a bit mumsy in them, I have Havanas, but they are a bit too casual. I have leather gladiator type sandals,, but feel a bit dainty for everyday,, so what can I buy that fills this gap?
More sturdy than a sandal or flip flop, but not too pretty,, but casual.
I also wear ballet flats or converse in the summer, so need another choice I think.
Would appreciate any ideas? ( except fitflops thanks)

I have ordered some from Clarks and White Stuff this week to try. I am coveting the Saltwater sandals but can't find a stockist.

I wear similar sorts of shoes to you - and have a pair of Saltwater sandals from Toast. They are really well made, not dainty and I think look OK with jeans, trousers or skirts (and shorts at a push). I have them in tan, I'm now coveting a red pair.
