Starting from absolute scratch with a work wardrobe

I have pretty much nothing! One black skirt suit that isn't a great fit. I need a serious stylish grown up capsule wardrobe... Was thinking about having 7 outfits that I can wear so I don't have to think about it in the morning, does that sound like it would work?

Was thinking the lines of smart dresses but wha does one wear them with?

Links appreciated!

M&S Autograph wool trousers navy & black are in store but not online, £40. Professional if a bit boring

I like french connection (sale time if possible!) and zara for dresses. Dress & jacket requires less time spent thinking about outfit combination than skirt/top/jacket! : )

jemstar I am the same shape as you and I find a fit and flare type skirt works best on me- you really need to try them on as if they are slightly too long i find some look a bit dowdy.

Marks had some, and next occasionally do too- the shops are full of pencil skirts just now which are my mortal enemy!
