Since Panoxyl was discontinued.....

......I have tried loads of different products, none of which compare to being half as good as Panoxyl. Quinoderm which is touted as being the most similar did absolutely nothing for me.

However, I have for the last couple if weeks been using anti bac hand gel with great, consistent results! Its the stuff you use without water and very cheap!

I take my make up off then apply a small dollop of the gel to my nose, chin and either side of my nose, carefully avoiding eyes and lips. I wait between five and ten minutes and apply my night time moisturiser, eye creams etc.

My pores are kept clear of congestion and whilst I only had a few largish, open pores, they have shrunk to normal size.

Really pleased I've found an alternative to panoxyl and a feasibly available, cheap one at that!

Hm, what creative thinking! I might try that, I use quinoderm!

There is a product that came out recently, called AcneGel which contains benzoyl peroxide 5% - may be out of stock at the moment - but is the same content as Panoxyl

PeskyRat · 22/06/2013 13:34

ooooh interesting, fellow Panoxyl lovers!

I've started using Quinoderm due to no Panoxyl ANYWHERE and whilst no adverse effects, it really doesn't do much compared to the Panoxyl, which was simple the best thing for my skin - kept me acne free for years and years.

There's meant to be an American one similar to Panoxyl (can't think of name at mo), selling on Amazon so I'm going to give that a go aswell.

WHY DID THEY BLOODY DISCONTINUE IT? Sad

TollgateDebs · 22/06/2013 15:38

Picked up from another forum

an email response from GSK on PanOxyl...

I can confirm that the Panoxyl range has been discontinued, with the exception of Panoxyl 5% Cream due to return in March 2013 and Panoxyl Acnegel 2.5% and 5% due to return in September 2013.

I am afraid that the reasons for discontinuing the product are commercial and that this decision came following a review of the Stiefel Brand acquired by GlaxoSmithKline. One of the main reasons for discontinuing Benzoyl Peroxide products is the high cost and difficulty producing this chemical which made it uneconomical to continue its production.

Thanks for the info TollgateDebs. I will ask in Boots.

We're packing for holiday and I found a barely used tube of Panoxyl 10% acnegel in a toiletry bag left in the suitcase from last year! It was like finding a £50 note!

Have you checked on amazon? You can buy a panoxyl face wash on there.

PeskyRat · 23/06/2013 15:36

I've checked everywhere. All chemists, amazon, ebay.

Apparently there are some tubes going on gumtree for 25 squid, at least there were at one point!!!

I have just ordered some Benzac from Amazon, supposedly similar to the panoxyl, so will report back once I've given it a fair go.

Keep reading conflicting reports about the panoxyl - but fingers x it will be back at some point. The 5% aquagel is what worked for me, never tried the acnegel.

Panoxyl aquagel 10 is now available again. I've just bought from Chemist Direct but there are other retailers.
Hallelujah!
