Red trousers for work? If so, with what?

I've brought some red trousers (eek) here from M&S.

They actually fit quite nicely but I was thinking of wearing them for work meetings (recent new client for the next few months) and team with a black blazer? What else could go with it? Does the whole navy / white / red thing work still?

I'm 30 and I'm 5'11 size 12/14

Crisp white shirt :)

FadBook · 21/06/2013 20:38

Thanks Monty, I'm on it.

I got a stripy black and white blouse and that looked really nice with it too Grin

Sigh, I want to be 30, 5'11" and size 12/14...

Crisp white shirt is the way to go Smile

Seriously OccasionalTherapy I have a nightmare clothes shopping. Nothing fits me properly as I'm out of proportion having a long body, arms, torso and legs. The high street shops are just rubbish for me.

I was in tears today in town today as I couldn't find anything for this new job next week, until I went into M&S and spotted red trousers Blush

People say I look slim because I'm tall but I just see my jelly belly which arrived the same time as DD arrived 22 months ago Hmm and my big size 8 feet! You always focus on the bits you don't feel comfortable with I suppose.

loving those trousers, not loving this lot though

Monty27 · 21/06/2013 21:43

The black and white one sounds nice too.

Have you got a small neck scarf too, would be nice with the white one :)

OccasionalTherapy · 21/06/2013 21:47

Stand up and be proud :) You've just ripped apart your whole body! I know what you mean about focussing on the shitty bits but that's the beauty about looking at others because you only ever see the best bits.
You will go into new work next week looking professional, slim (no-one ever notices jelly with Spanx!), and will have an absolute ball...congrats on new job, enjoy and swish hair about confidentley (always works for me)

sweetsoulsister · 21/06/2013 21:58

I'd go grey...

Thanks OT Blush think I'm feeling a bit low as first time back in office since having dd - worked from home for 12 months. Plus it's a big promotion for me so still can't believe I've bagged it. Confidence is the word.

Calamity - I know I don't look like the people in this pics Grin

Monty - yes. I have some nice scarfs, will have a look weekend in my drawer

They probably go best with promotion to Lt Col and accesorised by a black Labrador.

Otherwise, navy jacket is still best. With crisp white shirt and scarf twisted with Gallic flair.

CalamityGin · 21/06/2013 22:08

men and red trousers? a definite no-no!

women and red trousers? yes please!

with nude blouse

with black blouse

with grey

Whenever I wear red, I feel great ... I don't wear enough of it!

Gillybobs · 21/06/2013 22:11

By coincidence I wore boden red Bistro crops to work today with this Mint Velvet blouse www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Mint+Velvet+Ivory+lace+yoke+top/182628283,default,pd.html

And a black blazer with 3/4 sleeves

alwaysonmymind · 21/06/2013 22:17

Calamity Grin vair funny

Monty27 · 21/06/2013 22:17

Fad, you'll look fab, and congrats on promotion :)

Wearing red trousers (I do) will exude confidence too, I wore mine to work the other day (with a white crispy blouse Grin) and loads of people commented :)

MollyMollyMolly · 21/06/2013 22:21

I would wear the red trousers with a white fitted t shirt (good quality) and blue or blue and white modern fitted jacket and blue wedge sandals or shoes.

or grey would be nice. Use accessories to tie the whole thing together.

xmarksaspot · 21/06/2013 22:24

Breton?

FadBook · 21/06/2013 22:27

I think my next purchase is going to be a decent black blazer. Saw one in Topshop today but can't see it online.

I like that navy blazer from Matalan though. Bargain for 12quid!!

With my orangey-red trousers I wear white, cream, taupe, or a stripe top - black & white, navy & white or grey and off-white.
