Hi there, I have to go to a formal wedding. It's six weeks away.

I'm rather skint, what with one thing or another. So, can't justify splashing out on a dress I'll possibly wear twice (DBs wedding in October too).

I really like this tea dress in khaki and have some absolutely gorgeous 1940s style khaki mary jane shoes that would match. Mind you, there's still the problem of a clutch.

Would this be ok?

If not, what should I wear? Ideally I'd like something that I can dress down and wear on other occasions.

I think that's a lovely dress for a wedding Smile

Dress is nice, how about this clitch?

Karbea · 18/06/2013 15:58

Clutch not clitch ;)

I don't think it's smart enough for a formal wedding, it is lovely though! Looking for something you can dress down afterwards doesn't work for me in terms of formal wedding attire - you wouldn't look to dress down an evening gown and it's the daytime equivalent. Do you not have anything in your wardrobe already or a friend you can borrow a smart dress and hat from?

Thanks Karbena. I love that dress, so might get it anyway.

Hotel, I stay as far away from formal as I can. Blush Most people I know are pretty laid back. So, I probably don't know anyone who has anything suitable. One of my friends asked me if I had anything formal she could borrow today.

Perhaps I need to find out more about how formal it will be. If it's hat formal, may the good lord deliver me from such evil! Shock

I think you could wear a hat with it, but it really depends on the style of wedding.
Is it city formal (black tie) or country house wedding, in which case I think a lovely straw hat and the dress could look gorgeous.

Formal does not mean towie.

I need to find this out Karbea. It's one of DP's relatives who we maybe see once a year. Her husband to be is a banker though, so I assume he is quite well off. DP will be completely clueless about it all.

All I know is that it is being held at a very naice hotel in the country. I should find out what SIL is wearing as she will have a better idea.
