A straw type hat that folds

We are going to Spain in August, where I am sure to fry. My hair is dark but very fine, and I absolutely must wear a hat in the sun so that I do not burn my scalp along my parting.

Can anyone suggest a floppy straw type hat which folds up in a suitcase and then springs back to shape when you unpack it? My mum has one, but she bought it in the States . My head is quite small, so nothing enormous please!

Proper panamas are supposed to roll up into a scroll, aren't they? You might find a ladies version.

I think I need more of a brim than a panama, blue, but thanks for our reply.

I have one that I bought from Tesco about five years ago. I don't know if they've got anything similar in now, but maybe worth a look?

I've bought a couple of wide brimmed folding sunhats last summer - which never got worn due to the lack of sun in UK and no overseas holiday! Bought one in a garden centre and the other off a market stall, so it might be worth looking in those sorts of places. Both mine were cheap (£3 - £8) so I'd be happy leaving them on the holiday if I need the suitcase space on the way home. Have a fab holiday.

Good thinking. I will get myself off to our local market this weekend and hope for a bargain.
