NomDePlume · 30/05/2006 16:05

No curtains. I have (or will have, when they arrive and are fitted) very milky chocolate coloured moleskin roman blinds.

zippitippitoes · 30/05/2006 16:06

LOL@Annie!
I've got 2x 3 seaters, one along each straight long wall, then a 2 seater in the bay window. The other wall is a fireplace and 2 alcoves, one for the telly and one for a bookcase.
There are 5 of us,and so if anyone else is here we can still all sit down.
(I can actually get 11 people sat in there.)

nailpolish · 30/05/2006 16:10

Pattern curtains

bran · 30/05/2006 16:11

If you want a cream leather sofa then go for it Anniemac, so long as it's good quality leather it should be fine. My parents had a cream leather sofa when db and I were little and it just need to be wiped down now and then to look good. Eventually (after about 15 years) the leather on the arms cracked, but that would look bad on a black leather sofa too.

nailpolish · 30/05/2006 16:12

15 years is brilliant value for money

lahdeedah · 30/05/2006 16:13

anniemac - okay you are absolved. My flat is very draughty old Victorian terrace, so we need big thick curtains to see us through the long cold winters!!

NomDePlume · 30/05/2006 16:13

np, i think it would depend on the shade of red, the style and the type of fabric you go for. Personally I think that for red to work with white walls, you need a warmer, darker wooden floor. I suppose you could dress it in with a rug or something, break up the slightly stark contrast

zippitippitoes · 30/05/2006 16:14

no it's ground level terrace about 1835...they had been pinned behind hardboard in the late fifties/sixties something a TV diy bloke used to recommend and I fished them out and stripped and painted them

lahdeedah · 30/05/2006 16:14

NP - dark red would look nice. We have charcoal grey soft brushed cotton sofa from Habitat - v snuggly and comfortable.

mommie · 30/05/2006 16:15

curtains aren't over! curtains AND blinds together are very "in" !

mommie · 30/05/2006 16:17

ps; have you seen this month's Good Homes mag fom BBC...loads of curtains in there and lots of other ideas. July edition is out on June 1.

FWIW, we do still have curtains in the house. Got a pair in our bedroom (and a Velux blind), DD has curtains on her enormous bay and DS1 has a pair of curtains in his room. The rest are either bare windows or roman blinds
