I am going to a 40th bday party in a pub in brighton next month. Am a size 16-18. I've just bought this dress above. I am 40. The bday party is for a school friend. We were all indie kids and thought we were quite cool back in the day. I really like this dress, it is comfy etc but not sure it is edgy enough for evening out in brighton. can it be styled to achieve that or shall I get something else. Thoughts appreciated

I am a bit older than you but I don't think I would wear that dress. The flowers are a bit mumsy.

It's probably more suitable for daytime wear?

The QVC on is much nicer (never thought I'd say that). I think the flower one could be accessorised properly for a day time do, but IMO it isn't an evening dress - sorry.

Thanks for your thoughts...I was trying to channel 1950s hawaii but obviously failed. Will keep frock and wear with converse for day time......not keen on qvc dress, sorry.
