Stylish, waterproof summer coat

I live in rainy Bristol so constantly need a raincoat and I'm fed up of my shapeless mac. I'd like something a little more fitted and stylish, but that will still keep me dry. Preferably a hood as I never have a hand free for an umbrella. Bum length rather than knee length and I don't think a trench (looks like it would take too long to do up with buttons and belt- too fussy for me).

I prefer more muted colours, my style (if you could call it that) is straight leg or slim jeans with a top (Fat Face, White Stuff etc), converse or ballet flats.

Any ideas out there?

I have given in and accepted that I need a sensible summer coat too (yawn Grin )

I'm thinking of getting this one from fat face - it was recommended by another poster on here, who said it was quite fitted.

QueenCadbury · 13/06/2013 21:56

wrigglebum are you me Grin? I also live in Bristol and was thinking exactly the same today. Sorry, no help whatsoever!

wrigglebum · 15/06/2013 23:23

I can't open the link but I did see a nice one in Fat Face, not properly waterproof but beggars can't be choosers!

Luckily I think most Bristol people are quite unvain about their coats, waterproof anoraks aplenty around really. I've just lost most of my baby weight and wanted to get away from shapeless coats for something nicer.

A lot to choose from here. I have one of their coats and is waterproof and lovely.

Another company here. Have the long mac and great for nursery run. Shorter macs look great too.

I have this. I love it. It makes me happy every time I wear it!

It looks great with skinnies, Cons and a Breton.

Sorry certainly not muted or pastel, though.

That said, I'd burn it in a heartbeat in exchange for NO MORE RAIN...

Meringue33 · 16/06/2013 07:48

Kittie is that waterproof tho or just water resistant?

I like the Yumi raincoats too tho not sure about breathability

Kittie I love your coat - not sure I could pull off the yellow with my colouring but I'm tempted, v tempted!

KittieCat · 16/06/2013 14:20

I can't usually wear yellow at all (pale ish skin with red toned hair). It normally makes me look sallow and drawn but this seems to work... At least I think so and I've had lots of compliments on it.

It is properly waterproof and is a really soft, flexible almost rubbery material. It feels very odd when it comes out of the wash!

Can you tell I love it?!

Meringue33 · 16/06/2013 14:32

It's lovely! May have to purchase myself

snoworneahva · 16/06/2013 15:45

I have Celtic skin too - you may have convinced me!

KittieCat · 16/06/2013 18:56

I promise I don't work for PB! I just love my raincoat.

I fear I may be getting old now I've typed that sentence...

wrigglebum · 17/06/2013 10:18

Kittie, that is gorgeous. Looks very like one I got for DS from Jojo though so if I did get it I'd need to wait until he's grown out of it or we might look a bit odd Grin.

OP posts:
KittieCat · 17/06/2013 20:49

That's really funny, wriggle! DS has the same one from JoJo's.

The PB one is a slightly brighter yellow but v much the same material. We don't (apart from one accidental day) wear them at the same time...

I reasoned mine would last me longer so I got it anyway! DS will have to have the blue JoJo fisherman's mac next year!

KittieCat · 17/06/2013 20:51

Feeling all proud that my mac is liked and also pleased to have been useful on a S&B thread!

snoworneahva · 17/06/2013 21:09

Kittie It looks short in the arms, is it? - the models have turned the sleeves up so I'm suspicious....I'm 5"8" and my arm length is often a stumbling block.

KittieCat · 17/06/2013 22:59

Mine is fine in the arm but I phoned one of their shops for sizing advice and, funnily enough, the lady I spoke to advised me to size up because of arm length.

I thought that was bizarre at the time. That said, the arms on mine are just right and I certainly wouldn't turn them up.

KittieCat · 17/06/2013 23:00

I'm a couple of inches shorter than you, too at about 5'6".

wrigglebum · 18/06/2013 14:28

Well I have often wanted an adult version of DS's raincoat!
Shorter arms would suit me, normally they are too long for me (and I'm 5'6").
Might have to wait for a sale on it though.
