Brunette to blonde - I'm clueless!

Totally fed up with my hair.. It's light to mid ash brown and I'm quite pale and a bit freckly.. If I was adding blonde highlights to it/going blonde does anyone know what shades of blonde would work? And can you link to any examples please?

Thank you Thanks

Have a look at the 7 billion hair pictures on Pinterest and take your favourite ones to the hair dresser - they'll be able to tell you which will work with your hair/skin tone. Look for pictures where the model has similar colouring to you. Sounds like honey-ish blonde could work well on you.

I would def recommend highlighting versus an all over color. When I used to get my hair colored, my hairdresser would use foils with a mix of highlights and lowlights. Foiling is nice because I felt that it gave me a little bit more time between colorings without getting that blunt line that can happen with growing out an all over color.

Thank you both..I had highlights many years ago and I remember they really washed me out.. Want a change but want to get it right this time..

Really like the honey ones, just unsure if they'd suit me..

Sounds like you need to be careful then, if they washed you out last time - highlights look awful on me because I have a very pale, cool skintone (with a few freckles too - maybe we're similiar?) and most highlights end up warm-toned. Ever tried going darker? Darker looks best on me, my natural colour is medium ash brown which looks mousy and dull sometimes, so I go a shade or two darker and it brings my features out instead of washing me out like highlights do.

Thanks Ketzrel - I've been toying with that idea too Grin I think slightly darker may be good - just feeling a bit mousey..
