What would you wear with this?

M&S skater skirt

I am a petite size 10/12 and 5 foot 1 inch tall, and bought this on a whim yesterday. I was a bit dubious, as I'm 37 yo and in fear of looking like mutton, but it isn't too short, and looks quite nice! I would wear it with heels for work (conservative office). But I have no idea what to wear it with! Any ideas please?

As it's summer, if you can find one, maybe a smart white sleeveless blouse if you're going to wear it for work. Depends how formal your workplace is, but you could probably also get away with a vest top or a nice tailored blouse with little puff sleeves? It looks lovely, you could probably dress it down a bit for the weekend with a cute tee and some pretty sandals.

oops or this top with a colourful cardi over.

good idea about a blouse or maybe a jersey top with little puff sleeves good. I can't do completely sleeveless (upper arms aren't what they used to be), but I will have an online browse for something from a petite range with puff sleeves. I won't be able to tuck anything into the skirt as the panels make my tummy look a bit strange, so any top would have to be cut on the short side as I am so short myself.

Office is quite formal and conservative.

I don't think I would wear it at weekends as it is black, and black to me is an office colour. If it had been in another brighter colour, I woudl definitely have bought it for weekends.

It looks a lot better IRL than it does on the website btw!

Thanks for the suggestions mortified but I wouldn't be able to wear anything tucked into it as then the skirt just isn't flattering (there are so many panels that it would look bulky around my tummy and I definitely don't need that, being so short) and the tops which aren't petite are nearly always too long for me.

Hi, I think Asda/George are still doing some little fitted blouses with slightly puffed sleeves. I bought one a couple of months ago and I think it would look nice with the skirt. I think the contrast of the tailored top with the swing skirt would be really nice, and the blouse would probably fit quite well over the top - you wouldn't need to tuck it in. I can't see it on the website, but I saw this instead. I'm no good at links, sorry. I hope this works:
