Hello,

Wasn't entirely sure which forum to put this, as it's a short break but also beauty...

My school girlfriends and I all turn 40 towards the end if this year and originally we were going to go to NYC but funds have halted that! So we are thinking smaller!
We're thinking of a spa maybe one or two nights away maybe taking our mums too.

Can anyone recommend somewhere really nice, probably south of England?

Thank you!

I recently spent three nights at the bath spa hotel in bath and it was fabulous. There is a spa there with pool, saunas and outdoor jacuzzi plus they do treatments. They do cream teas in the afternoon. Its not cheap but you might be able to find a deal to include brekkie.

In the South there is Eastwell Manor near Ashford which is luverly, but it is not really near anything so you need a car, but if you want a bit of peace and quiet it is great. Near Canterbury for shopping and restaurants.

But Bath is ideal as there is loads of lovely shops to loiter around all day, plus great restaurants for the evening and proper pubs. We went to Jamies Italian which was fab. HTH.

Not Champneys. Dreadful places now. I felt like I was on a spa conveyabelt. Bored therapists, sub standard treatments, hen weekend a-go-go.

It's pricey but the The Grove spa (just outside Watford) is gorgeous (as is the hotel).

Agree with not Champneys - absolutely awful, cheap & nasty.

Chewton Glen in Hants is really good.

Alexander house utopia spa in turners hill, West Sussex (nr gatwick airport). Absolutely amazingly awesome.

I've heard such good things about Chewton Glen.

Lythe hill hotel Armarna spa (Haslemere) or Grayshott Spa (Grayshott unsurprisingly!). Enjoy!

Bannatynes in Shepton mallet is nice, they sometimes have deals on buyagift.com. There's an outdoor jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor pool, steam room and sauna. Staff really helpful, posh evening meal.
