hospital bag make up

I am after a bit of new make up, especially a new lip gloss / balm / colour. I have some boots points to spend and want to get something nice and easy for my hospital bag so that I don't look like death in those new baby photos and something for every day wear Afterwards that's easy to do and not too sticky. I realise that directly after birth make up will not be my priority!

I saw some tubes the other day - lancome and clinique I think but the colours looked quite scary. I am a hoc winter and have cool tones, usually have to wear pink blush to perk me up though have a bit of colour at the moment thanks to the sun (tan easily)

Does anyone have any recommendations? Are the tube glosses good or should I try something else? I've made so many expensive make up mistakes in the past and don't want to waste my points!

tou could try the vaseline rosy lips pr buy glamour for a pound and get a freeodel co lipgloss. save your boots points!

Hi, I am in process of doing my hospital bag just put up a thread there for tinted BB cream - Bronzer. I am going to put it in my bag. I also like MaxFactor Powder. Maybe bit of brown eyeliner. I might but the Vaseline suggested above.. I heard it is good. You know.. we probably won't even bother with anything come the time. How long till your little baby ?

I got some boots no7 sheer lipgloss for exactly this job (baby now nearly 5 weeks). Didn't manage to avoid death look but lipstick looked nice! Found gloss/tube stuff to sticky/gloopy - and this has nice colours which I managed to put on without using a mirror... Excite and entice are my colours in thus but they do non shimmery ones if you'd like to avoid having glittery stuff transfer onto new baby!

Other thing that is reliably good I think is Clinique super balm but needs put on more often.

Clinique chubby sticks for lips - feel balm-y going on, hold colour and a nice range of colours. I love mine.

Makes me feel vaguely feminine when walking around covered in baby vom!

I used my dr Jart bb cream and my revlon lip butter for my hospital pics

mrsspongebob · 08/06/2013 18:01

Revlon do better when it comes to chubby sticks.

thank you! i am going (child free!) to a much bigger boots store tomorrow so can add those to my list to try as well as have a good nose at the clinique counter. i cant seem to get on with BB cream but i do have some tinted moisturiser i could pack. that and some mascara should do shouldnt it?

i am currently 36 weeks mrspaddy, though i doubt whether i will actually make it to july - CS is on the cards as baby currently in breech position (again. what is it with me and breech babies).

allthingspretty i have that mag (along with marie claire and others) also on my shopping list for tomorrow. i have been following the freebie mag thread and buying up tescos supply of red for the elemis balm!

If it's on go for the Clinique bonus time. Buy yourself the City Block and one other item, I went for mascara. Then you get some really decent hospital bag size treats, usually in a make up bag. Last one included a chubby stick, eye cream, moisturiser and face wash. Got the lot with pints for £30 ish!

shelley72 · 15/06/2013 10:08

thanks all. i bought a chubby stick yesterday which is so natural it doesnt actually look like i've spent £16 at all Shock. so that will be going for exchange monday (the lady on the counter said that they do that now). i bought the strawberry one, maybe i should go for something a bit brighter? didnt manage to find any revlon versions though. are they widely available?
