going to a wedding in a few weeks and need an ouutfit. i bought the above but i'm not sure. DH thinks i look great in it and with a pair of spanx i feel ok in it. i struggle with dresses tbh and i'm not sure if this is suitable

i have a lovely pair of cream sparkly heels or a pair of black heels just like the ones in the recommended section at the bottom of the link

accessories wise i was thinking of a chunky bracelet as i'm unsure about a necklace

i really need some sort of shrug/bolero/jacket and a handbag too

any advice much appreciated!

I think it's lovely. Very elegant.
If you dress it up a bit with some statement shoes and accessories it will be perfect.
What about getting shoes, bag and bolero in a contrasting colour.
Hot pink, red or a bright turquoise would look good.

PMTIsMe · 06/06/2013 21:12

Lovely.

EverybodysStressyEyed · 06/06/2013 21:13

i do love red but also like the idea of bright turquoise!

glad you think it's ok. haven't been to a wedding for years and feel all frumpy post dc

I've tried that on! It looks even nicer in real life, it'll be perfect.

EverybodysStressyEyed · 06/06/2013 21:20

minuet petite doesn't fit me (I'm too tall i think)

i like the turquoise - i was a bit worried about a bolero but the shapes of those 3 I can see working

Well that was unsuccessful.

I went into coast and asked if they had anything to go with it and the woman was aghast that I was thinking of wearing it to a summer wedding.

Now feel totally flat about the whole thing as I couldn't find a better dress that fitted me.

Oh god don't listen to shop assistants. How bloody rude!
The dress is lovely, and very suitable for a wedding. It is this seasons stock is it not? Then should be perfect for summer!
Please do not be talked out of it by an idiot.
I noticed at the time that coast didn't seem to have anything to go with it.
Try debenhams they had quite a few options that I thought would work for it.
I'll have another look!

It's lovely, but won't you be very warm in it?

It certainly doesn't need a shrug over it - think that would look quite bulky tbh.

EverybodysStressyEyed · 09/06/2013 16:24

I've got a red shrug from phase eight with some flowers on it which dh says looks nice with the dress. I'm rubbish with colours so have to take his word for it.

Of course it isn't the season for red so finding accessories is proving a challenge! Not helped by te fact I don't do open toe or high. May just stick with my trusty dress shoes (champagne coloured) and try and get a red bag

Or this is lovely if a bit pricey.

If this is a uk wedding I'd be surprised if you were hot!
When is it?
If you don't want a shrug then just some really statement, colourful shoes.
Navy goes with almost anything.
Don't give up on it, I think it's lovely.

EverybodysStressyEyed · 09/06/2013 16:25

Xpost!

I don't tend to feel the heat tbh and I guess I can keep the shrug for the evening

That's the one I bought! It actually looks better in the flesh and the shade of red suits me. So I'm happy with te things I've bought individually!

Too high?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/06/2013 16:41

Something like this with nude shoes and a sparkly clutch?
