Bright skinnies! What on top?

I'm three stone lighter than I was last summer, and my wardrobe is mainly dull, muted, wintery shades of blue, grey, black and purple. Today I seem to have bought a pair of pinky purple skinny jeans to brighten things up!They were 2nd hand, so sorry, I can't link, but they are sort of magenta colour.

I am planning to wear them with a fitted T shirt (need some new ones anyway) - but what colour. White doesn't work at all, black seems to defeat the point of brightening things up, but bright colours seem a bit scary!!!! Teal?

Grey, don't do bright all over, keep top plain and simple, add a scarf that picks up the colour of the jeans a bit maybe.

wallpaperaddict · 04/06/2013 22:06

Agree with cherrypie, I was going to say grey, with accessories in same shade as jeans.

Hmmm, will have to learn to accessorize!

I do plain white t shirts with bright green or bright blue skinnies and then a scarf either to pick up the blue / green or add in a check / stripe / spot.

Scarves are the best! I have so many and almost don't feel dressed without one. Best of all don't need to be expensive. I also can't see why white wouldn't work. Skinnies, plain top (due to large bosom) and a scarf is pretty much my day to day uniform Wink

I don't think white works with pinks/reds/oranges/yellows BTW, I'm just always in blues and greens

Dancergirl · 04/06/2013 22:40

Where do you buy your scarves from cherrypie?

Cherrypie32 · 05/06/2013 07:14

Anywhere and everywhere! However I've had a couple of really nice ones from Sainsburys recently, only £8 each usually. eBay is good too, narrow your search by putting in something like 'butterfly scarf' etc

dexter73 · 05/06/2013 07:17

Do you not get hot wearing scarves in warm weather?

Cherrypie32 · 05/06/2013 07:27

No, they're only light ones and not wrapped tightly round my neckGrin it's only rarely too boiling not to wear.

SayMama · 05/06/2013 07:56

This is going to sound awful and I'll no doubt be chucked out of s&b for good but, I get some good tips from the email cebeebies presenters Blush a few of them like Kerry are going through a phase of wearing bright skinnies with bright tops and it's helped me see what looks nice that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. I have some bright green skinnies and saw that Kerry was wearing hers with either a pink top or a really strong blue collar and it looked nice.

I don't know why the word email is in there?!?

BeeBawBabbity · 05/06/2013 08:02

I think a light denim shirt (maybe open over a vest) looks nice on top with bright bottoms.

HandMini · 05/06/2013 08:55

Beebaw - love that idea but I'm quite norky and so often denim shirts have pockets on the boobs that make me look vast and messy. Anyone got any good denim shirt recommendations for something a bit more slimming / slimline?

Dancergirl · 05/06/2013 21:50

Anyone know where I can duck egg blue skinnies?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/06/2013 22:02

Unleash your inner Howard Wolowitz (Big Bang Theory) and team your magenta skinnies with an emerald green shirt (tucked into your jeans) on top of a magenta poloneck jersey.

Dancer - I'd try Primark first. When I went there they had 20 different colours. I never know whether duck egg is more blue or green.

70 - my eyes, my eyes. Love it.
