Is there a reason why- coffee, tea, smoking, curry, red wine?

Do you want to DIY or go to the dentist for whitening treatment?
I've never tried those at home treatments but I've heard they can cause sensitivity.

There used to be a red toothpaste (IIRC) Gordon Moores Cosmetic Toothpaste. Makes your gums redder so your teeth look whiter.

I bought a sonic toothbrush and it's brilliant.
I use Sensodyne but I did try one that made my mouth numb so I have to be careful what I use. I stick to the regular one.

Bicarbonate of soda is good if you can tolerate the taste.

Get them cleaned by a hygienist at your dentists first, no point trying to whiten stains and tartar that can be removed quickly and easily.

Then ask them which whitening toothpaste they recommend. My dentist reckons that many are too abrasive and will damage enamel if used too often.

Cleaned first and then keep flossing etc.
I had mine whitened at the dentist but Crest white strips are a good alternative.
Rembrandt is excellent but if you are prone to mouth ulcers like me , boots own sensitive whitening is really good too.

Thanks ladies - it's just because I've had my two children reasonably close together and don't have any where to put them to go to the dentist. One is old enough to come with me now and amuse the other in her pram so will be going soon!
All great tips - thank you!

I find pearl drops is a good whitening toothpaste. I get mine from the pound shop.
Charcoal is meant to whiten teeth. I've bought some capsules but haven't had the chance to try them out.
Hydrogen peroxide did nothing for me.
I don't have really yellow teeth but i have rice white skin which makes them look duller in comparison.
A blue toned lipstick will make them look whiter.

Colgate Max White One is brilliant. whitens teeth and reduces staining as well. Tastes like normal toothpaste and isn't too expensive, I buy mine for £1.99 in Savers or Wilkinsons

Pearl drops is sooooooooo abrasive you will quite literally kill your teeth if you use it routinely. Go to your dentist, she will be able to tell you whether the colour is intrinsic (needs bleaching treatment) or extrinsic and can be cleaned off by a hygienist. You only get one set of teeth as an adult. Don't fuck them up with illegal/ill advised "whitening" procedures.
