Right - inspired by my other thread on having my colours done I have decided to dye some very pretty white shirts that I own as I am not wearing them anymore. The nearest to cream/ivory I could find is a little darker than I wanted but they don't seem do the exact colour I want. If I use half the dye will it dye it lighter or will it all end badly and in the bin :)
They're really nice shirts and I would feel bad about destroying them, but I am sad they are languishing in my wardrobe unworn! All cotton. Please tell me your experiences and advice I will be sodding gorgeous if it kills me

Hi......I used to do textiles at college, and did quite a bit of experimenting in this area! No, it wont go lighter if you use half the amount....all that will happen is that the end result will be patchy. However, if you wash them with detergent as soon as they're dyed, this might 'lift' the colour slightly for you Smile It's a bit of a 'try it and see' situation I'm afraid!

TwoNoisy - thanks. I think you are confirming my suspicions - I'll use all the dye and then immediately wash them as you suggest. Oh well - guess I'm not getting any wear out of them as they are so might as well give it a go. Real shame Dylon don't do a softer colour...............
