ELDW shade discontinued - help!

I have used ELDW in shell for years and went to stock up recently only to be told the shade has been discontinued. I was given two testers of the replacement shades but they are not right on my skin.

I am very pale, pretty much white, with quite a lot of freckles, which I like to cover as best as I can. I loved DW because it gives me good coverage and lasts well.

Has anyone found a decent replacement for the shade and coverage? I know it sounds dramatic but I have searched for years to find my perfect foundation and don't know where to start with replacing it.

Sorry I can't help with a replacement but you can probably still buy your shell shade on eBay to give you some time to experiment

I went to a counter and asked for some testers explain that yours has been discontinued and can they give you a pot or two to try. They were more than willing very helpful.

This may be a blessing in disguise. I am sure, after a bit of experimentation, that you'll end up with a much nicer and more flattering foundation that ELDW. Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish is a good start or Clarins Ever Matte (Everlasting?) will give out samples and have a good spread of paler shades. For a more informed view, check out Lisa Eldridge's videos on Foundations for Pale Skin. Good luck! It's always a bit stress making when a much loved product vanishes, but I've always found better products in the end and found myself wondering why I got so angsty about the loss of the 'favoured' product.

Thanks everyone. I've had some samples of the new shades and they are no good, palest makes me look orange! I've also seen a few on eBay but I know I need to find a new one at some point so think I need to take the plunge.

I will check out your recommendations Claudia

Double Wear IS flattering and nice on lots of people! I adore it, and it looks lovely and natural if I apply it in a particular way. Yes, it can look unflattering, but not always. I actually like it so much, I buy two different shades and mix them to get the right colour for me. Can't help you with the shade problem though, as my skin is darker than yours.

Nothing beats it for me, Clarins Everlasting is too perfumed and just doesn't last long enough, and the Bobbi Brown Long Wear smells strongly of lavender and breaks me out.

I do like Dior Forever, that looks lovely and is long lasting. And Givenchy Éclat Mattisime foundation is nice too.

Shell is back!!!!

Online from Estée Lauder, free delivery, was sooo excited when saw itGrin

Shell has been reformulated, AFAIK - somebody on here complained that the new version is too pink for them recently Sad. I still have 2 bottles so won't be visiting a counter any time soon, but I'd love to hear views on whether the shade has changed (I really hope it hasn't)!

+1 for Dior Forever, it's nice if you can get a good match. My friend recommends Lancome for pale folks, but I don't know which of their foundations is the full coverage, long-wear version...

Oh, no! Hope hasn't changed- have a bottle waiting to go after my Smashbox 15 hour one done. It's good, but I did prefer the longevity of DW. Will try the new one on Monday.
