nars orgasm - is it worth it?

need a new blusher and may splurge - don't usually spend much on blusher

It's quite sparkly

I tend to use it in the summer only

GetOrfMoiLand · 30/05/2013 13:51

I felt like a prize twat asking for 'orgasm' (in a maiden auntish half whispery way) in Space NK.

It is nice, but not a perfect colour for me so didn't buy it.

cornypedicure · 30/05/2013 13:54

lol I don't think i could ask for it either Grin
I don't know if I fancy sparkly though

CajaDeLaMemoria · 30/05/2013 13:57

Yep, very sparkly.

The color suits me perfectly because I'm so pale, but the sparkles make me look like a doll, so I don't wear it often.

squoosh · 30/05/2013 13:58

Nars Deep Throat is more universally flattering I would say, it's got much less shimmer. It's my all time favourite blush.

A v good dupe for Orgasm though is Sleek's blusher in Rose Gold, plus it only costs a fiver in Superdrug.

GetOrfMoiLand · 30/05/2013 13:59

Sleek stuff is wonderful.

For a tenner you can buy a face contouring thing - matt blusher, shimmery highlighter and a really flattering blusher in a palette for a tenner. And the eyeshadows are really good as well, well pigmented which is unusual for such cheap make up.

GetOrfMoiLand · 30/05/2013 13:59

Shall I say for a tenner again Hmm

KinNora · 30/05/2013 14:00

Sleek Rose Gold is very similar ( I have both ) or, apparently, Too Faced Who's Your Poppy - but that's one I haven't tried.

McBalls · 30/05/2013 14:02

Does nothing for me. I'm the pale end of medium and it just sort of disappears on me. Not the shimmer though, no chance of that disappearing without a good scrub.

Bourjois Rose D'or does exactly what I hoped orgasm would- healthy, natural glow.

Pandsbear · 30/05/2013 14:07

I don't see the shimmer on me too much at all. But it is very pigmented and so I have to be rather lighthanded with it. I like it, quite peachy rather than pinky.

HandMini · 30/05/2013 14:25

I love it, and on me it comes up pinky rather than peachy. I've got sallow pale skin.

cornypedicure · 30/05/2013 14:44

I'll have to make a trip to the shops I think.
Lots of good advice though thanks Smile

It's a beautiful colour and great quality but I hate the shimmer. If it was matte I'd buy it a thousand times.

monkeysmama · 30/05/2013 19:52

I prefer Gaiety. Bobbi Brown's Peony is a beautiful brightening shade too and both are matt.

MrsCampbellBlack · 30/05/2013 20:58

this is similar but cheaper

I really like it. Ignores recommendation came from one of the cast of the real housewives of beverly hills.

coffeeinbed · 30/05/2013 21:07

No, it didn't make the earth move for me.
And I'm a big Nars user.

Mendi · 30/05/2013 21:08

They tried it on me in Space NK and I hated it. Had high hopes but it was very glittery and gave a very Barbie-doll effect IMO.

I like a matt blusher.

cornypedicure · 30/05/2013 21:08

I've just been looking at liz earle on QVC - they seem to have only a little sparkle in the blusher
may order and send back if I don't like it

coffeeinbed - which nars stuff do you rate?

OP posts:
coffeeinbed · 30/05/2013 21:28

Oooh, how long do you have? Grin
I have yellow-olive skin and tan easily.
So, Cap Vert to contour, Luster, Deep Throat for blush
Laguna is lovely, but mine broke and Bourjouis - whatever that's spelt - is a good and cheep substitute.
Gaiety is lovely to brighten up
Gold Member as highlighter - looks scary but blends brilliantly.
Palm Beach when I'm away in the summer and want to keep it easy.

And some lipsticks...

coffeeinbed · 30/05/2013 21:29

cheap
sorry!

InspirationFail · 30/05/2013 21:33

Looks lovely on my friend but awful on me. I use the Portofino shade which is a bit darker and less shimmery.

cornypedicure · 30/05/2013 22:41

wow coffeeinbed you really are a NARS fan aren't you!

rootypig · 30/05/2013 22:47

Bourjois little round pots are the best value - Bourjois owns Chanel, their formulations are....similar. Hem. Rose d'Or is a ringer for Orgasm and yes, they both have a lot of gold in them. But there are lots of shades in the Bourjois range, lots of nice matte ones. For powder blush, I like Bobbi Brown, look at the shade Slopes.

Amazinggg · 30/05/2013 23:15

Yes, yes, ohh, yes Grin

But go and try them. Portofino is better on me really, similar tones but as poster up there ^ says darker and less shimmery, I think they are similar though
