It was duty-free. Please, please tell me I didn't waste my money. Are there any skin glowy aficionados who use this stuff?

cafecito, I have extremely dry/dehydrated skin. I have been using Astral day and night for years and I have really good skin - hardly ever get spots, good elasticity in skin, looks plumped up and full most of the day. It's got loads of glycerin in it which helps your skin to hold onto water. I buy the medium size tub of Astral which costs about 4 quid and it lasts me 2-3 months. Love it Smile

SirChenjin · 30/05/2013 13:11

I use Astral too - couple of quid for a big pot that lasts for ages, and it's amazing stuff

I hated Creme de la Mer the smell alone put me off. I have dry skin but the odd break out, it was far too heavy for my skin and i felt that i still needed to use another cream to actually moisturise. No difference in skin tone or elastisity after months of use. I didnt buy again.

I regualrly swap my moisturiser as I'm a bit of a product junkie and get sucked in by marketing, however the best by far is nivea in the blue tub, i use i everywhere, face hands and body.

CiderwithBuda · 30/05/2013 13:34

I am a complete product junkie too. I blame my mum. She was the same and was an Avon lady in the 70s.

I am currently using Kiehls too. And liking it. Quite tempted to try Astral next. I think I remember Joanna Lumley saying she uses it for everything when travelling - cleanser, moisturiser, body cream.

I'm almost finished a course of ten CACI ultimate facials and am using the CACI serum which is lovely.

greensmoothiegoddess · 30/05/2013 21:37

Well I slathered it on last night (on top of my Boots night serum lol) and woke up with a lovely hydrated face. I intend to use it as my night-time moisturiser as it seems quite heavy. Will keep you all updated as well as how long it lasts.

PS the Creme de la Mer serum was even pricier. What the hell is in this stuff? Hubby says it is marketing over substance

Do you do that special thing - when you rub it between your fingertips and then dab in on?
Apparently that's the way to use it.

greensmoothiegoddess · 30/05/2013 21:42

Oooh now that's a good tip. Thanks coffeeinbed! It did rather sit ON my skin at first so will try that.

No, because it's thick you have to liquefy if by rubbing between fingertips and so your body heat and the friction make it more easy to pat on later.
Mind you, I'm on my third jar of Boots Botanics Sensitive Skin Cream, so maybe I'm not the best expert on this. Grin

scottishmummy · 30/05/2013 21:46

oh Christ I'd never pay.i buy Clinique and feel blingey

ComradeJing · 30/05/2013 23:45

I had one of the serums and my skin was incredibly clear when I used it.

Finished now sadly and trying a REN one instead.

The only cream that I go back to time and again where I really see a difference is NY Frankincense.

I keep buying pots of Elemis when it's on offer because am sheep and Mn threads tell me to and I love love love the smell, but tbh, the cream does nothing. If anything, it doesn't moisturise enough for me.

Have never tried CdeLaM (packaging looks worse than supermarket own brand IMO ) but read on here that Elemis and Aldi Sea Minerals are virtually the same.

coffeeinbed · 31/05/2013 07:45

Elemis does nothing for me, I had endless samples for whatever reason but no.

HandMini · 31/05/2013 09:00

The only expensive product I've completely loved (and can't afford to buy all the time) is Vaishaly cleanser and moisturiser. I have literally never enjoyed washing my face so much - smelled and felt amazing. However, that was at a stage when I had raging adult acne, so there wasn't a great deal it could do to stem that.

TheBirdsFellDownToDingADong · 31/05/2013 09:02

Astral is fab-u-lous.

I have the neck of a 17 yr old. (seriously, not one line- I always slop Astral on it)

KikeriFreedomCastle · 31/05/2013 09:06

I've used it before. It's like a nice, heavy moisturising night cream (and that's how I used it, not as a day cream), but not really worth the money

ItsintheBag · 31/05/2013 09:08

I would like to try CDLM just so see.Let us know how you get on,I think a few weeks will give you an idea if its worth it.
But I was advised on here(sensitive and dry skin) to buy la roche posey.
My skin has really improved, it looks brighter smoother and hydrated. Before this I was using an E45 type cream as it really was so dry.

I like the cleanser as it very rich but I wouldn't say it melted away my make up, I used a face wash before and didn't have to do anything to remove my make up.
