Funeral wear?

Clearlymisunderstood · 29/05/2013 21:29

Sadly have a funeral to attend next week but have absolutely no formal clothes any more so need to buy something new. Any ideas on what would suit 5ft 3" size 12 pear shape? Not a massive budget, have £50 to spend could stretch slightly more possibly but would rather not and would like something I could wear again to job interviews etc.

TIA!

Have you got a Matalan near you?

Lots of inexpensive clothes that you could pick up items that could be used for work afterwards.

Ooh yes I do, I've never been in though! Will take a peek, thank you.

I'm looking for something to wear to a funeral too, I was thinking a jersey wrap dress maybe? I'm looking online now......

This looks nice, its simple and elegant would suit both funeral and work.Probably suit most shapes I would think.

I was in a similar situation last year and bought a stretchy black pencil skirt from M&S and a black top with white spots from Debenhams, both of which I now wear to work. I just wore them with a smart coat but it was the autumn so had to wear a coat. If the weather is mild/warm you probably still need a jacket though for a funeral. Have you got a smart coat/jacket that you could wear and buy a new dress or skirt and top that would match and that you could then wear again?

Cheap priced shoe would look smart

I sadly attended a funeral yesterday and wore a phase eight dress called 'kissing birds print jersey dress'. A bit over budget bit could wear for work too.

This looks nice, www.goddiva.co.uk/Home/Button-Detail-Shift-Dress quality might not be up to much but quirky and different but still sober enough funeral or work. Money left over too Smile

Lots of links to look at thank you all. I just found this www.next.co.uk/g3838s1 any opinions?

I like that next dress. Wish I could wear it, stuck trying to find something to breastfeed in

MiniTheMinx · 29/05/2013 22:04

The next dress is lovely.

You need some detail across the shoulder to balance wider hips though. Wide necklines or cap sleeves usually make your hips look narrower.

Clearlymisunderstood · 29/05/2013 22:10

Hmm maybe that needs trying on then, my hips are rather wide. My Internet is playing silly beggars and won't let me access any links so will have to check from work in the morning but thank you all for your advice, feel a bit more positive that I might actually find something suitable now Smile

The next dress has some detail across the shoulders, maybe try it in the shop if you can.

Clearlymisunderstood · 29/05/2013 22:56

Oh I see, I thought you meant more detail than that Blush
