Impulse buy yesterday afternoon, for some reason decided to speed-shop 2 mins before baby woke from nap. Are these going to be cheap crap I will regret?

I have that jersey one, or at least last years version. It is much admired when I wear it. Good thick jersey.

I like the other one too.

HandMini · 29/05/2013 21:18

Yay, thanks Wips, it's thick jersey I'm looking for to, er, skim over my less than svelte waist and hips.

I'm a 16. I look STUNNING in this dress Grin It's v v flattering.

HandMini · 29/05/2013 21:25

Yay even more, can't wait for it to arrive now. I don't usually buy in impulse, but I'm sooo fed up with jeans and winter and my chances of getting to the shops EVER without baby and toddler is zero.

Both lovely dresses :) I find George no different to a lot of high street shops for quality.

HandMini · 29/05/2013 21:43

Thanks Tilly, good to her that. I buy lots of cheap high street stuff like Primark and HM so I'm not expecting super-chic!

I went to their press day recently and was pleasantly surprised by the design and quality of their clothing! As I result I ordered a dress and a skirt and have been pleased with both. I'm not saying they're on a par with designer, but certainly as good as Topshop.

Love the Moda Floral Print Jacquard Dress :)

HandMini · 30/05/2013 08:55

Ooh Amber are you a fashion journo? Will be more than happy if they're Topshop quality.

Me too Milk

Their dresses are great quality and consistently true to size. I buy quite a few from the G21 range as they do quirky retro prints. Must admit to being disappointed by this Summer's collection though Sad.

Love your floral one Smile

This is one of my favourite dresses I've ever owned.

HandMini · 30/05/2013 09:06

I'm between a 10 and a 12 and ordered a 12 in both. I always think dresses look terrible if you're squeezed into them though am repeat offender for squeezing myself into size 10 jeans and then not breathing all day

I was cooing over this dress instore today! The detailing on the neck is lovely. They also have one with spikes on the neckline, I'll see if I can find it...

here it looks much better IRL though!

I actually really like a lot of George clothes, I've had the odd dud but generally it's pretty good quality. I remember buying DS some tshirts when he was a toddler, so about 7 years ago now. I bought some from Next on the same day and the Asda ones washed brilliantly, the Next ones had to be binned at the end of the summer. My friends DS still wears the Asda ones that I handed down, now!

AmberNectarine · 30/05/2013 20:47

Nah, not a journo, just a blogger. What is interesting is that they sponsor graduate fashion week and recruit young designers from there for the G21 range.

HandMini · 30/05/2013 20:48

They arrived today. Very quick delivery. The jersey one is great. The pink/orange, well, I'm not sure. It's a bit on the big side and I can't decide whether the print is (a) like an old granny's curtains or (b) very Pippa Middleton society wedding in Hello.

Allthingspretty · 30/05/2013 21:32

The second dress looks like a pair of curtains my parents still have from the seventies

xTillyx · 30/05/2013 22:01

I think it is a bit reto, but its really pretty. If you're not sure about the fit though maybe best to send it back as its quite a bold dress so you need to feel good in it to pull it off x

xTillyx · 30/05/2013 22:06

Forgot to ask, I'm around 5"4,would the jersey maxi be too long on me with flat sandals do you think?

buttercrumble · 30/05/2013 22:17

Lovely both of them

cocolepew · 30/05/2013 22:17

The patterned one is from their Moda range, which is aimed at the, umm, older woman Smile. They do excellent linen trousers though.
I wear a lot if George stuff and, always get compliments in work about them . I had on the black and white stripey t shirt dress today, it has a zip at the side, its really lovely.

HandMini · 30/05/2013 22:30

Tilly - it'll be pretty long on you. I'm 5'8 and wearing it with flats it's swishing round my feet, not quite to the floor.

Coco - yikes, I'm only 32! I didn't mean to buy something for the oldies range. I think it's going to go back. On website it looked like nice sherbety colours, in real life I just see it and think "CURTAINS"

Aww that's a shame,I am always on the hun for maxi dresses in the summer. Just love being able to throw a dress on but not worry about legs. Its a shame that you're not happy with the floral one but at least George delivery isn't too expensive x
