OK come share with me the following:

1 what you wear on a long flight

2 Your flight bag

3 the bags your kids fill with ds/ipad/random stuff if left alone to pack

What ages/how many hours?

Go for easy to wear soft clothes/layers. I often wear leggings and a tunic. Don't forget that planes can get cold so you might be uncomfortable in a skirt.

Easy to remove shoes, feet swell under cabin pressure.

Make sure that all electronics are fully charged, especially for long haul.

Older kids will probably spend most of their time plugged in to the in-flight entertainement. Younger ones need more interaction/supervision.

One of the worst flights I ever went on was Doha to Cape Town. 12 hours, 1 hour on the ground in JHB, no in-flight entertainement and a hyper 6 year old.
