painting over Gel nails?

i had some gel overlay put on my own nails. its a kind of Lilac colour but i hate it. can i paint regular nail polish over the top of it? id like to keep it on as it has given my nails a nice even smooth surface.

Yeah you can, and as long as you use acetone free remover you can take it off to change colour etc without damaging the gel underneath.

Yes, just make sure when you remove it that there's no acetone in the remover.
I do it all the time.
