Shoes for dress thread

My mum's having a 70th birthday lunch (at home) next month. Immediate family and longstanding friends are coming, maybe 20ish or so. I think it'll be fairly informal, but I have recently lost a lot of weight (3stone) and want to look nice. I am not a very trendy-of-the-moment dressey, but not too formal either. I quite fancy a 50s style prome dress This Tiger Milly one. There is a shop nearby that sells them. But what shoes? I don't really wear heels (I do wear wedges for shoes from time to time) and have never worn stilletos. Could I wear ballet flats? Or what else? I have very broad size 8 feet if anyone can offer alternatives.

I think flats would work with that dress.

Red ballet flats would be great with that.
