Black or brown mascara?

I've always worn black mascara but as I have dark circles and look permanently tired I'm thinking would brown make me look better, less harsh perhaps?

I have brown hair with some highlights, very dark brown eyes and olive, sallowish skin. Anyone else with this colouring wear brown mascara?

That sounds a bit like my colouring. I often have both in the go, but do tend to default to black, since my lashes are black.

I have brown hair, brown/hazel eyes and freckled skin.
I wear black .
I also wear navy (looks great with brown eyes)
or if I'm having an 80s throwback day black tipped with vibrant blue/ blue on first so the base is coloured with black tips.

Have you tried Benefit in the plum ?
