bare minerals or...what?

hello. i'm pregnant and have dodgy skin. I've been using Bare Minerals and I like that it is a powder and doesn't seem to aggrevate my skin. It also gives a good cover and is definitely better than going bare faced. BUT, I find it quite yellow on my skin, and they seem to have only two colour options. Can anyone recommend another powder foundation which does much the same job but has more colour options, for much the same price? Or should I go ahead and stick with bare minerals?

Crutchlow35 · 16/05/2013 06:37

lily lolo

nowwearefour · 16/05/2013 06:53

Jane iredale

Circaea · 16/05/2013 06:59

What Crutchlow said - lily lolo.

Bare minerals have about 20 shades, go to a counter and get matched properly.

PowderMum · 16/05/2013 07:02

Bare Minerals comes in a full range if colours not just two. I've been using it for years as it is so great for my skin.

iloveweetos · 16/05/2013 07:02

Jane iredale is great

madamecake · 16/05/2013 07:13

Another vote for lily lolo. Good range if shades and you can order samples of them before splashing out on a full size pot.

Lily Lolo!

CarpeVinum · 16/05/2013 08:06

Lilly Lolo!

I love Jane Iredale! Found it so much better than Bare Minerals for my skin and easier to apply.

valiumredhead · 16/05/2013 15:54

Bare Minerals has LOADS of colours. If it's too yellow then it's the wrong colour for you.

SvetlanaKirilenko · 16/05/2013 16:49

Another saying Lily Lolo. You can order cheap samples online to get the right colour and they are cheaper than Bare Minerals. My skin has also improved loads since using them!

Laura Mercier. I get mine at Space NK.

JennySense · 16/05/2013 22:21

Lily Lolo for me too

Arcadia · 16/05/2013 22:26

Lily Lolo is amazing, I have just got it recently having never wore foundation before because I hated the gloopy feel and was scared of looking 'plastic'. It looks great. I googled it and found a beauty salon a few miles away who stock it and arranged for the manager to come and show me how to apply it (I had no clue about foundation and was scared of blusher too!) and she recommended the correct shade for me. Much cheaper than bare minerals I believe but it is the same ingredients. Very natural, no smell and completely light and comfortable on your skin. You may be able to find a stockist near you.

I think Bareminerals contains bismuth oxychloride, which can cause irritation. Lily Lolo does not. It was one of the reasons (price was the other) I tried LL and never looked back. LL is fab and a great company.

You could have a look at everyday minerals, available here www.cocktailcosmetics.co.uk/brand/everyday-minerals and no doubt elsewhere. US-based and huge range of foundation shades. I've recently been bewitched by the No7 colour match but thinking of going back to this for summer - less gloopy, as you say.

thanks for all the advice! it's so strange that i could have missed the other 18 colours available in bare minerals, since i went in to john lewis, and the girl on the counter actually told me there were only two choices, and persisted even after i said it was yellow looking! never mind, this is all very interesting, and i am looking into Lily Lilo and Jane Iredale. I had almost just decided to reorder Bare Minerals even though it wasn't great, so thanks for the help!
