Help and Advice Please - Cut or Perm?

47 yo,
My hair is fairly fine but plentiful. it sits just past my shoulders.
All one length, no fringe. No layers.

It's as boring as heck though.

Problem is: I need my hair to be completely off my face at work. I grew out my fringe because it got in the way. I don't want layers because I can't abide loose wispy bits and had to use clips and grips until it would all stay in a ponytail.

If I wear it loose (on non-work days) I can use straighteners or it has a bit of a wave.

If I get it cut, it'll need to be collar length or less. Maybe a whispy fringe because I'll need to commit to the regular cutting so it won't grow too much.

Or if I have a perm, what do I go for?
I would like a loose curl look that I can put back in a clip/ponytail for work- so keep the length.

I wash my hair 1-2 times a week (but if it was short it would be every day).
I wear glasses to work.

Any ideas?

I too am toying with the idea of a perm for my slightly-below-shoulder-thin-straight hair.

I'd be interested to know what S&B thinks! and links to styles would be good

So far the opinions have been somewhere between horror and mild amusement when I've asked friends etc what they think of my plan

I'm obviously not thinking 80's corkscrew or anything, but some body and well, you know, shape would be nice for a change.

I am soooooo bored of my pencil-thin ponytail hair!

I had the 1980s spiral perm many years back (my hair was much longer) . It was lovely and lasted ages but not for me now.

I think if I cut my hair that's it gone. But it's not doing anything at the moment.
And if I have it permed and really hate it, then I can tie it back until it relaxes a bit or cut it off.

Some links would be nice [smiles winsomely] and an idea (roughly) of prices?
(I'm a dive into Supercuts type IRL but I'd need to find somewhere that does perms)

Have you looked into digital perms? I'm not in the UK so no idea on price I'm afraid.

I've never heard of digital perms .
