Maxi dress RIP?

I went to a wedding yesterday and NOT ONE PERSON was wearing a maxi-dress. Shock It was an averagely stylish to somewhat fashion forward crowd.

I can't remember the last time that happened...are they officially over?

BTW I have NEVER worn a maxidress and now it seems I never will. Grin

I hope not too.

I'm 5'10" and find these tea dresses, knee length dresses too short on me, so my savior is the maxi. Now that I've had surgery on my leg I'll be living in them when it's warm, or if I'm going somewhere formal.

I do NOT have a crepey cleavage. Hummmmph.

Agree that most maxi dresses are best for casual wear. But every wedding I have been to in the past five years has usually had at least half a dozen women guests wearing them, which is why i was surprised that there were none at this event.

I think they can look amazing within strict criteria (Yoni has hit the nail on the head) and the reason I started the thread was because I had started to think about giving it a go (not an early adopter me) - mainly because of the practicalities ie they cover legs between waxes! And they look nice and cool. I just wasn't sure if that ship had sailed.

I am also tall with good legs and rubbish arms which is why I had steered clear until now but a soft jersey one for everyday wear sounds good.

I went to a vair fashion-conscious media-y wedding last year and the only maxi-dress in sight was mine. BlushBlushBlush

TBF I was post-natal and needed something to skim over the pudgy bits, whereas everyone else was stick-thin. And it was a blisteringly hot day, tights not an option.

I still love mine.

Maybe I don't go to stylish weddings. Grin
