Pale peach organza dress

Ceremony is at 1pm in a big country manor type house.

Are the 2 River Island black and gold ones too black do you think or is that mix OK?

There's also this New Look one

phase eight - £95 so under budget for dress one, I think you could get away with just changing accessories and making this day to night.

I think the River Island ones are really inappropriate for a wedding at 1pm (or any time) in a country manor house. They are too eveningy, dramatic and glitzy.
What size and shape are you, what's your colouring like?

nappyaddict · 12/05/2013 11:22

Sorry meant this Parisian Gold Sequin Chiffon Dip Hem Dress

The River Island ones or the New Look one would be for the evening, not the day.

of those three, the new look one for the first River Island ones are best. Check with the bride though if most people are changing for the evening, you might not need too, or have a lot of time to change depending on the wedding timings (there was only a 30 minute 'break' between the two dos at our wedding so not long to change.)

K8Middleton · 12/05/2013 11:24

These days anything other than all white or cream is ok. In fact I've seen a woman in a lovely cream dress at a wedding but it was short and she had big accessories so not bride-y at all.

I would wear your dress in the blue with a shrug or small cardigan or jacket. Plus a hat or facinator if that kind of do. You'd need to be slim and have a good bra to get away with it but other than that... do it!

The stuff about red is a load of old tosh (sorry!) as is not wearing green because it's unlucky.

tak1ngchances · 12/05/2013 11:26

I know the RI ones are for the evening but they are still too glitzy for a country house wedding

K8Middleton · 12/05/2013 11:27

I've only ever known people change for the evening at Asian weddings. I prefer something you can day-to-night by taking off hat and jacket.

tethersend · 12/05/2013 11:27

For day

tethersend · 12/05/2013 11:27

For night

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 12/05/2013 11:28

I like your original one in blue, OP. And apart from maybe white or cream, I think all these 'rules' about colours to avoid are outdated.

'red was traditionally the colour of the groom's mistress'. Well, I think the key words here are 'traditionally' and 'was'.

Those positing that the OP might be deliberately trying to stand out for less than edifying reasons are being absurd, IMO, and rather unpleasant.

TallulahBetty · 12/05/2013 11:28

The rules about what colours can't be worn to a wedding are very outdated. I've worn red, black, cream to weddings. The style of the dress is more important than the colour.

nappyaddict · 12/05/2013 11:29

What about this

And could I wear it to both day and evening?

OP posts:
tethersend · 12/05/2013 11:29

for day and night

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 12/05/2013 11:30

I don't like your last one above, OP, sorry. I like the one tethers posted. I think your original blue one would be lovely for both day and night.

nappyaddict · 12/05/2013 11:31

I like the style of that one tethersend but a bit too candyfloss for me.

hugoagogo · 12/05/2013 11:33

I think for a summer wedding something like this would be nice.

K8Middleton · 12/05/2013 11:34

whatsleep · 12/05/2013 11:36
