Stockings, suspenders, and knickers

I have recently started to wear stockings and suspenders again for occasion wear and always put on my suspender belt first, slipping my knickers on over them.

However in catalogues, the models always seem to wear the straps outside their knickers, having put the knickers on first.

It isn't the sort of question that I feel comfortable about doing a vox pop on with my friends, hopefully mumsnet will come to the rescue!

What is "right"?

Knickers over the suspenders is so that you can go to the loo without undoing the suspenders.

Knickers under the suspenders looks nicer for photos.

Agree - knickers over suspenders.

Agree in real life knickers over suspenders to minimise strange bumps and ease of going to loo.

Before getting pregnant and being a beached whale lookalike.... I wore knickers underneath although it generally was just in the bedroom don't know what I would do if I wore them otherwise? (Didn't even realise you could wear knickers on the outside)
