Woo hoo! Over here.........

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 13/05/2013 19:16

Amber I read that all wrong...thought you were buying your daughter (dd) a cup bra from Figleaves! Thought she was only young and quite an extravagant first bra!!!Grin ....Envy at DD bra though!

My DH was brought up by parents who bought quality not style. So when I took him "in" he owned Churches dress shoes (why?) and those hideous red leather slippers!! Got rid of those v quick...kept thinking he looked like something out of Jeeves and Wooster! He wore them with Burton too! Confused. Now we keep it classic but not old man.

AmberNectarine · 13/05/2013 19:21

I have entirely purged my DH's wardrobe save one unspeakably nasty brown suede utility jacket (yes, it really is as bad as it sounds) which I won't let him wear but he won't let me get rid of. To add insult to injury it is currently residing in MY wardrobe as he has no space in his (he got the single one, I have the double). The horror.

AmberNectarine · 13/05/2013 19:22

drywhite my DD is 22mo so I think that would be pushing it a bit. I got my first bra (a B cup) at 9 though, so it may not be too long!

santamarianovella · 13/05/2013 19:27

linus, you have to take a pic and show us!

amber i salute your persistence, and im Envy of DDs!

loooool dry,thats very lord grantham.
DH,used to wear churches,i never liked them, made him switch to tods ,he said and i quote "forever indebted to you".

Hopefully · 13/05/2013 19:28

My DH is apparently the black sheep, as he looks (on the whole, apart from The Sailing Crew T-Shirts That Shall Not Be Discussed) reasonably stylish. He just goes online once or twice a year and buys a bunch of stuff in his colours and style and knows they work and then doesn't think about it again for another year. Easily pleased. Works for me, since then all clothing budget for the rest of the year is basically mine Grin.

Amber I was something appalling like a G cup until I stopped feeding. Am still an E (albeit a 30E, so actually not that massive) now.

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 19:32

Hopefully dh doesn't spend that much on clothes, no suits really at work. Am not complaining!

McNally · 13/05/2013 19:32

My DH is really not interested in clothes so replacing his wardrobe has been very easy. When I took him in Grin he was wearing one of those weird leather necklace things. He hadn't even just been on a gap year . He does look lovely in his vetted clothes though. He's another bespoke suit wearer for work and looks amazing.

He is a dreadful shopping partner too. I feel so bad taking him that I rush round. I went to Bicester en route to the Cotswolds at Easter and must be the only person ever to have come away empty handed.

Annianni · 13/05/2013 19:32

I've also managed to get rid of all the furniture etc that was in his house (we both had houses when we met) and the only thing that's in this (our new) house from his previous life is a dvd player :o

LinusDKD · 13/05/2013 19:34

santa I have been trying to convince DH to try Tod's but he refuses point blank.

Oh and all his plastic shirts mysteriously dissapeared in one of our many moves. [whistles innocently]

I have just remembered DH had this coat and matching hat:

yuk

I think we still have it somewhere 'just in case he needs it' Hmm

LinusDKD · 13/05/2013 19:36

He is quite stylish now after more than 10 years together

Drywhiteplease · 13/05/2013 19:37

Good god linus if I showed that to DH he'd want the set!!

one there are indeed some v kind people on MN. Skirt sounds v exciting.

Drywhiteplease · 13/05/2013 19:39

Off to pub with girls....my Chanel inspired not at all overdressed for our village pub ensemble has been ditched because I need a coat and boots....bloody weather and I wanted to look like a French Voguette Grin

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 19:43

Blinking weather! I love French Voguettes Grin

santamarianovella · 13/05/2013 19:43

linus its like youve got your very own indiana jones.

imGrin at "took him in"

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 19:45

Linus that coat made me laugh Grin.

AmberNectarine · 13/05/2013 20:03

What DH spent on his most recent visit to the tailor could have bought me a 2.55 . He only goes twice a year though so I reckon I still edge it on overall spend...

LinusDKD · 13/05/2013 20:10

Oooh a 2.55! One day you will be mine.......

Annianni · 13/05/2013 20:46

Shop, Hopefully...

I've found black gigi's for £34 in a UK8 if you're interested?

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 20:48

These stories are brilliant. My DH had a range of Tommy Bahamas shirts from various club trips - only one remains....... Must burn it.
Linus - my DH used to have one of those, no hat though. He has more 'outdoor pursuit' clothing than anything else. I'm not mentioning the camouflage stuff........
Can someone link the Tods they buy their DH's? I'm curious. My DH bulk buys in GAP now, an improvement but we're not there yet. Mind you, if it takes 10 years then we've only been together for 7 so there's still time :)

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 20:50

Anni you are a star but I can't do black. I'm keeping my eyes out for brown or yellow...... Great price though, are they from a UK stockist?

OP posts:
foxysocks · 13/05/2013 20:53

I have two words for you ladies.

Hawaiian shirts.

I wish I was kidding. They are still in the loft but banned from everyday wear. And it was, literally, every day.

The horror.

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 20:56

hahaha Foxy Grin

God dh and his old band tshirts. All black. All crap. All impossible to throw out.

Tg he doesn't wear them to work anymore.

Black such a bad colour on him Grin

Hopefully · 13/05/2013 21:00

No black for me either!

Hopefully · 13/05/2013 21:00

but thank you Anni Smile

LinusDKD · 13/05/2013 21:02

I would like DH to wear these Tod's on weekends in winter but so far no luck.

Tods

Casual summer shoes are a bit of a problem. He has a very old pair of boat shoes that need replacing but I have no idea with what. His style is quite preppy, a bit like Prince William's off duty look but with (even) less hair. Wink
