Can't you buy another pair and return the first Grumpy (if you've worn them take the new pair in withe the receipt for the first pair?) They're nice. Necklace link doesn't seem to be working?

shopafrolic · 11/05/2013 15:52

Oh dear! I shouldn't be allowed out - had a lovely time at The Dressing Room. Fab staff.
Amber I mentioned you and how great your blog is, and how that had got me in-store - I said we were friends. I hope you don't mind, but I didn't want to talk about MNV..... they seemed pleased that a blog had got me in to see them. Was served by a young girl, long brown hair, v dark eyebrows, and then I think the owner came out while I was paying and heard about the referral too.
Anyway - I am sure I can find these items elsewhere at a lower price - I don't want to know!! The staff were so helpful I didn't feel I could go elsewhere.....
I fell in love with your jeans Amber such a great fit
I also tried these Hudsons which were lovely but the turn ups made me feel about 12yo so they couldn't come home.
I bought this top which will come in really handy this Spring. Not true Autumn colours I guess but it works for me Farhi top
and a useful vest which is massively overpriced but the lace at the base makes it great for layering
more cream IRL
I also tried this American Vintage top in red and cream and was very tempted but had already spent too much and I needed a medium really, they tried to persuade me to take the small but I wasn't convinced. So if anyone sees these on their travels in the sale ideally, please let me know....
So basically, no dress, no skirt but some beautiful jeans which I probably could find cheaper elsewhere!!
That's the sign of good salespeople that is :)

I also tried this Ba&sh top (not on the Dressing Room site) but for the price I was scared I'd ruin it. Really pretty though and looked lovely with the jeans.

santamarianovella · 11/05/2013 16:25

I can't see the necklace grumpy
I loooove that Farahi top shop 'and that b&sh top looks a lot like this.

I committed a serious crime today not only did I finally got this I got this top too.
And I was looking at the Velvet dress sleep pinned and I'm possessed with this I must be stopped.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 11/05/2013 16:31

Great purchases shop. Love the lace vest (and it would have looked great layered under the floral T - just saying...Wink)
I have gone a bit mad today. The weather is awful, so I've had a couple of lazy hours online. Of course I bought the necklace (hope the link works this time) cute sandals and summery clutch. I am dreaming of sunny days, preferably somewhere hot with a beautiful beach. That Pink Peonies blog is killing me!

OneLittleLady · 11/05/2013 16:31

They are both lovely santa I'm so Envy

shopafrolic · 11/05/2013 16:41

Wow Santa - lovely, the top is fab! Like the top you linked to, very similar, but more creamy in colour.
Grumpy I'm so pleased you got that necklace - I love it too! The floral silk top was gorgeous but just not practical for life at the moment. I have however phoned back and got the AV top in cream as I can't see it anywhere else online and it looked great with the lace layering vest...... Free delivery = good service.

Shopping trip over and I am knackered because I walked so much!

I didn't buy that much but I realised that most of the things I bought online recently were at a discount so it is hard to pay full price again for something.

First I had my nails done which made me feel a lot more groomed especially since my hands are so dry from endless post nappy change handwashing.

I also went to the Céline shop to drool over their nano's but they had none in stock. Sad

From Céline to H&M Wink to stock up ons some vests for layering and then I hit a few of the department stores to see if they had anything I liked/wanted.

I tried on this breton tee, as if I need another one, but the detailing on this one was different than all the bretons I own or have seen recently.

Breton

Unfortunately there were some make-up stains on the neckline so I didn't buy it.

They also had these nice Charles Philip shoes but I am not in the market for yellow shoes so I didn't try them on.

shoes

I did try on several white skinnies (Goldsign, Citizens of Humanity etc) but none of them were right and a lot of them didn't even fit. [Blush]
Maybe a sign I shouldn't wear them but I had some lovely white maternity jeans and I wore them a lot. Maybe I will have a look at Topshop or Boden for alternatives.

I bought some Superga's in a lilacy blue to replace my knackered navy ones and also a pair of red patent madrid Birkenstocks (maybe not fashionable but ideal for wearing around the garden chasing DS)

shop I also bought an American Vintage Tee. A Jacksonville in, I think, Grenadine.

I even contamplated buying some navy havaianas but as I already own two pairs I resisted.

There were some lovely clothes in the shops but they were either wrong for my bodyshape or too expensive (Isabel Marant trousers, leather Balenciaga biker jacket that was buttery soft, Alaïa dresses etc) but it was fun looking at them.

At the end of the morning I did feel a little 'unsatisfied' so I bought a perfume I had been lusting after but never bought because it was too expensive: Tom Ford Neroli Portofino.

But it looks like I might have to give up the bottle as DH has remarked several times already how much he likes the scent. Serves me right for spraying some on him when I got home!

Oh well, I still have a box of Ladurée macaroons to comfort me later on when the DC are in bed! Wink

Wow, long post. Will shut up now and start dinner.

shopafrolic · 11/05/2013 16:48

Love that scent Linus - that seems to be the problem with Tom Ford - too unisex so DH steals.

Great shopping ladies. grumpy I especially like the necklace. I wish I could wear statement necklaces Envy. Speaking of which, did anyone see dmbl40's statement necklace picks.

Feeling virtuous as I returned the trousers. Mango happily swapped my top. I was expecting an argument but she exchanged it with no quibbles-either I looked scary or they're used to people returning things that wash badly.

I really have decided that I have enough stuff in my wardrobe now and am definately going to take a shopping break until July (disclaimer:I'm allowed to buy something emerald coloured as there is a distinct green hole in my wardrobe). I need to wear what I have and be happy with it but I shall continue to shop vicariously through you guys!

shopafrolic · 11/05/2013 16:56

Well done QueenC - I might have to join you on the shopping break as I have spent way too much now!

grumpy love the sandals, such pretty colours.

santa beautiful top!

shop l love those jeans, they look very stylish. What kind of tops and shoes do you wear with boyfriend jeans?

Annianni · 11/05/2013 18:39

Lovely shopping ladies...

Just had a wander round Yoox and there's some bargainous Goldsign's and Hudson's, I've ordered 3 pairs to try.

And does anyone like the McQueen razor cuffs? They are incredibly cheap on there, i've ordered 2 to try layered with the silver bracelets that I usually wear.

There's a very skinny one that's nice, but it's plastic and the others are leather.

santamarianovella · 11/05/2013 19:21

grumpy I love the necklace ,
linus I think the nano is made to order now.
Queen I think we all need to do that now or we'll have trouble paying bills.but in my defence I had a good promotional code so I actually saved.
ani is it this
I looked at it along with thisscarf I love the cuff, the wrap bracelets are nice too.

shopafrolic · 11/05/2013 19:28

Linus cashmere sweaters and my Hudson ankle boots when it's this kind of weather. Vests or tees and my Sam Edelman Gigis when the weather improves. Or to dress up I'd wear a pretty top and my nude LKB Florettes. Very versatile.
Can you link to the cuffs Anni I haven't seen them

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 11/05/2013 19:43

Mmmmm not sure i can do razor blades at my wrists. And I love a good cuff.....Hmm

LinusDKD · 11/05/2013 19:55

Are boyfriend jeans just for slim people or can a slightly overweight pear also wear them?

Please say no because I have just converted to skinnies so have bought enough jeans as it is (apart from white skinnies ) Grin

Anyway, I don't have any ankle boots to wear with them because I'm afraid they will make my short legs look even shorter.

Annianni · 11/05/2013 20:01

Still don't know how to link on my phone, sorry.

Do a search for McQ and sort to low price first.

I loved the silver wrap, but don't want plastic.

Ordered a triple leather wrap in black and a plain leather cuff.

Prefer the wrap one, but some of the jeans will get returned anyway, due to Yoox's dodgy photos and having to guess what the styles are, so I thought I'd try the cuff anyway.

Annianni · 11/05/2013 20:04

Linus, I'm a size 14 hourglass-ish with a size 16 tum :( and I wear boyfriend jeans.

I wear them with Superga, ballet flats and hav's.

shopafrolic · 11/05/2013 20:04

I wear a 31 or 33 leg jean normally so i guess that = long legs Linus don't think the boots look too bad, key is that they go down at the front like an Ash Jalouse or my Hudsons.
Reading up by googling pear shape and boyfriend the tip seems to be keep the top part streamlined to accentuate your waist. If your legs are super short then other shapes might suit better but I'm not sure. Amber knows more.........

OP posts:
Annianni · 11/05/2013 20:11

I tried Horrigans with boyfriends and they looked fab.

I tried Spirals with them and they looked hideous (on me)

I'm 5'7

shopafrolic · 11/05/2013 20:20

Now you come to mention it Anni I've worn Hudsons loads with them and only worn my Jalouse once........

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 11/05/2013 20:21

I think they need to be roughed up boots Linus

OP posts:
santamarianovella · 11/05/2013 20:26

linus im not very tall,so i could never wear boyfriend jeans with flat shoes Sad,its either with ash wedges for casual wear,or stilettos for going out .
they are very flattering with heels.give it a try.

LinusDKD · 11/05/2013 20:28

Mmm, I'm 5'4 so pretty short. If I was slim I think I might be able to pull off boyfriend jeans but I doubt if I can now.

I am also starting to think that getting white skinnies might not be a good idea because DD is eating solids now so half of it ends up on me when she sneezes or blows raspberries.

The Baxters and Boden ones are not too expensive so maybe I will give those a try but getting the size right will be tricky but I don't want to go through the hassle of returning them.

I wear a size 31 in James Jeans and a 30 in Paige Denim (and I think a 30 in Hudson Jeans). Do Baxters and Boden fit true to size?
