Bra intervention - have I got this right?

Hi - I'm new, hope its ok to come straight on with a question....I Somehow stumbled across one of the bra intervention threads a couple of weeks ago and have been following them in amazement ever since.

I've always worn an A cup (32/34 pre pregnancy, currently 36A) - never been measured professionally but always done it myself based on the "add 4 or 5 inches" rule. I have pretty much constant back ache and neck pain but never ever imagined this could be caused by boobs as they really are so tiny!

But after reading your fascinating threads, I think I should be a 30/32D! My measurements are 31 under bust, 35 at fullest point when bending over to 90 degrees, and 34 above. Have I got that right? If so I am truly truly in shock that my almost-not-there boobs are a D!!

Thanks

Fairly normal IME for the end to do that - catch 22, if they're not reasonably tight then they don't work. If they are, they stretch! Which is why you always buy on the loosest hook so you can tighten it up.

Debenhams Gorgeous tends to run small in band and cup, and deco tends to run a bit big in both. So, I'd probably try down 32FF to start with and work from there.

To Kitikins

I seem to have a similar problem with very heavy breasts and almost same size (slightly smaller back)

Recently, on a trip to Bravissimo, I bought this, which holds beautifully and the cups do cover quite a lot. It's strapless, but it comes with 3 hooks and removable straps, and the cups feel filled. It is actually in a 28F, which feels tight, but not uncomfortable and I think it helps make sure the heavy boobs are in place.

I also have Masquerade Amor in a better fit than in the model. :) at a slightly larger size of 30E.

I also have a Porcelain bra, but at 30DD I get a slight overflow with tighter clothes, including T-shirts. I think I'd need a 30E, as I have for the Masquerade.

Help me! I'm a 29.5 under and a 32.5 over. Normally wear a 32A...

Start with a 30B and a 30C.

HI bra ladies, I have taken the plunge and asking for your help. I have been wearing a 30B. I have taken my measurements, just a smidge over 26 - perhaps 26.5 at end of day under my bust. Over say 31.5, it seems to vary and can go up to 32 and if I pull tighter down to 31. I guess at 32 I can't believe there is such a difference.

I tried on a brand new 28b non underwired bra of my daughters. It didn't feel too tight in the band and the cups were too small. I am fairly slim across my rib cage.

What bra size do you recommend for me? As there are less choices in the smaller sizes, where do you suggest I look? I have looked at figleaves online, smallest seems to be 28D.
Here's to a great Easter and hopefully to making my small bust look and feel great.

If you google you can find companies that specialise in smaller chests.
I did when looking for my sister (wide chest, tiny breasts).

I found a reference for the small bra company, for example.
You may need to try both Cs and Ds and maybe in a 26 too, if you can find it.

KitKins, if you like that John Lewis spacer bra then you may fit well into a Fantasie Rebecca which is fairly full coverage. I have wide set, bottom heavy 28DD/30D boobs & this is my everyday bra in a 30D.

The Fantasie bra isn't cheap (RRP £41) but you can get them cheaper on eBay once you know your size. I picked up a purple one BNWT for £9 last week Grin

hopefultess If a 28B is too small then a 26C isn't going to work. You need to try 26D/DD.

This company make 26" bands. Debenhams' Gorgeous range comes up small so their 28" bands may work.

Alternatively, you can alter the band or use these to shorten it.

Lovely bra Ladies I have been looking at my 10 year old DD over the last few weeks and facing up to the fact she has breast and needs a bra. So I measured her this morning and want to start her off correctly. She is a fairly chunky girl. Her under breast measurement is 31 inches and over breast is 34 inches and the tape was nice and snug, but not compressing breast tissue.
As she is fairly chunky I guess a 30 band would be better, so then her cup size is it C (31+3) or D (30+4)?

Oh and where would you suggest as the best place to get these first bras from.
I buy in Bravissimo, but obviously we are not there yet.

Well, after following these threads I took a long, critical look at the sagging, holey contents of my undies drawer and did some measurements.

It came out as 32DD. Well, DH and I laughed for a long time at the thought that my miserable little handfuls could ever be described as DD (I have been wearing 36B, and, more recently after weight loss, 34C). But off I went to M&S....

Well, Hello Boys! What a revelation. I actually have a cleavage. Shock I went for Plunge styles, as I usually find them the most comfortable, and am very impressed.

I do have a little bit of underarm podge, though, so that's my only concern. Does that mean anything fit wise? I

Ok I need help. Am wearing a 32gg but can pull it a fair way from my body not sure if I need a different size or if this one is a bit old. I'm 31.5 under bust and letting it all hang loose I'm 43.5.
My boobs are round all over but most weight at the bottom. I'm looking for a plain nude one for under summer tops, a sports bra and swimsuit of some sort.

HEEEELLLPPP!!

Lonecatwithkitten Try a 30D and Bravissimo would be a good place to start as they start at a D. Debenhams, HoF and JL stock 30Ds too.

CointreauVersial Hurray! Underarm 'podge' usually means you should try a bigger cup but sometimes it can be a style issue.

Chocolou Your measurements suggest a 30J/JJ or a 32HH/J. Have you got overspill in your 32GG? Good plain bude bras include the Cleo Juna, Panache Idina, Bravissimo Satine, Freya Deco, Curvy Kate Daily Boost.

Thank you Sorrel I will look at the Debenhams website as they are in our local town and we can click and collect to try on at home.

On one boob yes sorrel. Have got back and armpit fat ??. What about sports bra if I remember you have to go up a back size or something? Is it the same for swimming costumes as my ass is a hefty size 14!!

The power of online shopping we have ordered one from JohnLewis and one from Debenhams to try on.

Thanks, Sorrel.

No, I really don't think I need a bigger cup; maybe a Balcony style might work better, although historically I've always found the straps tend to be too far apart on my shoulders.

I can't stop feeling my new boobs. Blush Grin

Chocolou Back and armpit fat dies indicate the need for a bigger cup so give the sizes suggested a try. Many sports bras come up very tight in the back, for example the Freya Active. I'm a 30GG but needed a 32. Swimming costumes differ but I'd start with your cup size and go from there. I always get bikinis because I'm curvy and something that fits me on the bust is usually too big on the waist.

CointreauVersial Straps being too far apart/falling down usually means that the band is too big. Try a balconette in a few sizes.

Good point, Sorrel, I've always been wearing a too-big band in the past.

hopefultess · 20/04/2014 14:48

SorrelForbes thanks for the link. Many of the 26 start at DD.

There is such limited choice do you think I could get away with a 28D? Sometimes I do wear a 30C or find some of my 30B's a little small, although most okay, although sometimes I do notice that armpit thing where skin seems to be hanging over.. Such limited choice is frustrating, as I like to wear something that is pretty and/or sexy...

This is a great thread and I love reading everyone's pleasure at finding the right size.

Thanks to all the lovely ladies who help out.

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/04/2014 15:32

Hopefultess, a 28D would be a reasonable size to try as people who are quite slender sometimes need a band size up from their base measurement anyway. Your base size would be a 28DD/E so a 28D/DD is probably worth trying.

Hello bra ladies.
I came to the bra intervention a while ago but since losing a bit of weight my shape has changed a lot.
My new measurements are 29 under and 34 over. 30D?
Also what bras would you recommend for a good bit of uplift or boost?
Thanks!

Report
SorrelForbes · 21/04/2014 13:41

Nightwish I'd try a 28DD/E and a 30D/DD. What size are you wearing now? Have you got any overspill or other issues?

My personal favourites for uplift are the Cleo range (e.g Marcie, Lily, Minnie, Bella, Juna) and the Ewa Michalak CHP styles. A lot of people prefer other styles like the Freya Deco, Bravissimo Satine, Curvy Kate Showgirl range. The Bravissimo Alana also gives a good uplifted shape.

32B, fits awful and is so worn I can only do up one clasp... desperately in need of new but I always seem to send them back.
My sports bra is also in 32B so they get a bit squished, any recommendations on a good one? =]
And thank you, much appreciated.
