Bra intervention - have I got this right?

Hi - I'm new, hope its ok to come straight on with a question....I Somehow stumbled across one of the bra intervention threads a couple of weeks ago and have been following them in amazement ever since.

I've always worn an A cup (32/34 pre pregnancy, currently 36A) - never been measured professionally but always done it myself based on the "add 4 or 5 inches" rule. I have pretty much constant back ache and neck pain but never ever imagined this could be caused by boobs as they really are so tiny!

But after reading your fascinating threads, I think I should be a 30/32D! My measurements are 31 under bust, 35 at fullest point when bending over to 90 degrees, and 34 above. Have I got that right? If so I am truly truly in shock that my almost-not-there boobs are a D!!

Thanks

Start with 30F and work around that - so perhaps 30E and F, the 34C is roughly equivalent in cup volume to a 30DD yes, though the back will be unsupportive as it's 4 inches too big, but your measurements suggest at least another cup size if not two is needed. How do the cups fit at present - when you scoop do you get quad boob and overspill?

SorrelForbes · 08/03/2014 15:09

I do indeed and pretty much do all my buying on-line!

Debenhams own brand, Gorgeous, runs small in the band and cup. M&S sizing is bonkers and very random. In addition M&S don't do an FF so their G is really an FF (but it often isn't because their sizing is shit!).

What sort of style do you like? Which ones did you get from Debenhams?

enormouse · 08/03/2014 15:24

Hi there lovely bra ladies, can you help me?
Currently breastfeeding a 5 week old and need to get some new bras.
I measured myself and I'm a 28 underbust and 35 on top. I think this makes me a 28 E or F. Is that right? I was a 28D/DD during pregnancy and am a size 8.

Mothercare thinks I should be a 32/34 B. M and S think 34C. I'm still wearing a soft wireless 34B nursing bra I bought for my first pg 2 and a half years ago in mothercare. (I was pretty ignorant and thought this was the best I could do).

Dillydollydaydream · 08/03/2014 15:24

Quad boob? Yes, I think. I have to keep readjusting to keep putting my nipples back inside the bra Blush they used to fit better but I had a baby 9m ago so I've probably out on a little weight!

BirthdayMuppet · 08/03/2014 15:51

Okay, if the cups are not even containing your nipples then you might want to try 30FF as well!

Enormouse, yes 28F to start with and try a FF too. It's more difficult to fit perfectly during those early days because of engorgement and normal swelling/softening before & after feeds, but 32/34 anything is never going to fit well!

enormouse · 08/03/2014 16:09

Thanks birthday

Where's the best place to go? I'm in northern Ireland, so no bravissimo here as far as I know. I usually go to m and s but 28s are pretty illusive.
Can you recommend some brands to start off with? Feels very strange to be an F.

arleta66 · 08/03/2014 16:54

Hi sorrel, hopefully this link will work to the Debenhams bra I got in black & natural
www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_150010563860_-1
I prefer plunge as have one bit bigger than other! the one in m&s I have seen is black floral cotton rich material. i have similar in red but in 36e
www.marksandspencer.com/2-pack-assorted-padded-plunge-dd-gg-bras/p/p22270366
Just get sick of plain black & nude sometimes! I have looked at Bravissimo but i just can't afford it at moment. I have to say that I got a silk mix bra from M&S from the Rosie range in green for xmas and its the best fitting bra I have ever had from there but that i think came up lot tighter in band than usual for M&s it was supposedly 36e

SorrelForbes · 08/03/2014 17:48

Ok, Brastop is great for discounted good quality bras as is Amazon, Leia Outlet and My Curves & Me.

Plunge bras that have a good reputation include the Freya Deco, Bravissimo Satine, Curvy Kate Elegance, Lepel Fiore Padded plunge.

Dillydollydaydream · 08/03/2014 18:49

Crikey birthday that sounds big!
Will have to go on a trying on session.
Thanks for your help :)

TacitusMouse · 08/03/2014 19:10

I was just wondering if you could give some recommendations on brands/ where to get a 28 padded/push up bras?

SorrelForbes · 08/03/2014 19:14

The on-line shops listed above plus Bravissimo, JL, HoF and Debenhams. The Lepel Padded Plunge is good for smaller breasts.

TacitusMouse · 08/03/2014 19:55

Thanks I looked in the deparment stores but they have a really really limited selection that actually fit as i'm a very small 28. When I go to London I will take a trip to Bravissimo

Orangeanddemons · 08/03/2014 20:02

Can I ask about the central gore thingy sitting flat against your chest? I have never ever ever had this. Currently in a 36 K, so can't go up a cup size, but the next band up is too big.

Are my boobs off the scale ?Sad

SorrelForbes · 08/03/2014 20:05

TacitusMouse Bravissimo is your best bet, high-street wise.

Orangeanddemons What are your measurements? A 34 might not be too tight with a bigger cup. You can get cups up to an L (two cups bigger than your K) but sadly the choice of bras decreases as you go up in size.

Orangeanddemons · 08/03/2014 20:07

I don't really know tbh. I just buy what fits... I find it too depressing to contemplate anything bigger. A K is too big as it isSad

SorrelForbes · 08/03/2014 20:08

OK, can you measure following this guide and post the measurements (or pm me if you prefer)

TacitusMouse · 08/03/2014 21:04

Really sorry another question - does anywhere do adult bras size 26 as as I said before I'm a very small 28 and the band does feel loose

InMySpareTime · 08/03/2014 21:18

Tacitus, Made In Preston is the only UK supplier I've found for 26 back bras. They start at DD cup, and aren't that cheap, but run true to size and wires are properly designed for small backs (I'm 26G). They are bringing out some everyday bras, don't be too put off by the garish ones at the top of the page!

TacitusMouse · 08/03/2014 22:29

Thanks I shall have a look!

arleta66 · 09/03/2014 08:18

Hi Sorrel, thank you for the info will have a look at ones you suggested :)

TacitusMouse, I do feel for you it must be very frustrating! I am not sure if you are a lady who sews (or maybe know someone that does) and I haven't tried this myself but thought you may be interested in this article about altering band size. it doesn't look as complicated as it sounds.
It may be worth trying if all else fails :)

Refoca · 09/03/2014 08:34

I think I'll get fitted again, I like my current bra but it's not the size I was expecting when I went in.

Orangeanddemons · 09/03/2014 09:42

35 1/2 around back

481/2 round boobs (possibly 49)

Am I a freak? Grin

Orangeanddemons · 09/03/2014 09:48

My boobs are 4 foot round....

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 09/03/2014 09:49

Kin ell, I'm a 38ff!

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2014 10:02

Orangeanddemons, try a 36HH/J and possibly a 34JJ/K
