Bra intervention - have I got this right?

Hi - I'm new, hope its ok to come straight on with a question....I Somehow stumbled across one of the bra intervention threads a couple of weeks ago and have been following them in amazement ever since.

I've always worn an A cup (32/34 pre pregnancy, currently 36A) - never been measured professionally but always done it myself based on the "add 4 or 5 inches" rule. I have pretty much constant back ache and neck pain but never ever imagined this could be caused by boobs as they really are so tiny!

But after reading your fascinating threads, I think I should be a 30/32D! My measurements are 31 under bust, 35 at fullest point when bending over to 90 degrees, and 34 above. Have I got that right? If so I am truly truly in shock that my almost-not-there boobs are a D!!

Thanks

sid, Brastop.com. I also buy loads from ebay, especially if I'm not after any particular models, but just bargains. You have to check each seller's returns policy there though.

Mrs45618 Pour Moi isn't a brand that I'm familiar with. TBH, if you need to order from Very then order some of these brands instead (perhaps three each in three sizes e.g. 30F, 30FF, 30G)

Panache Jasmine

Cleo Minnie

You can pick up Cleo bras for much less on Amazon and eBay!

Mrs4561 · 06/02/2014 15:30

Thanks sorrel, I will do that! ... Would you bother ordering a 32f/e? I'm so excited to try on now, might just bite the bullet and order from brastop, just a bit overwhelmed with the choice.
Ladies, I admire your dedication! Grin
Many thanks

I rarely find that people need a smaller cup size than they measure. It's usually a bigger cup and a different style. I'd order a balconette and a plunge style both in a 30F/FF/G. I wouldn't bother with an E, it'll be too small.

Make sure you test each one by trying it on back to front first. This lets you see how the band fits without complicating it with the cups!

Mrs4561 · 06/02/2014 17:36

Have just ordered a few from bravissimo, the brastop site kept crashing on me.
Will come back and update with the results!
Thanks for the advice Smile

Thanks hazle, really appreciate the advice

Hello interventionists, please could I have some help? I've just measured and I'm 28" (exhaling!) underneath and 35" over the fullest part (bent over) - that's with my nipples a bit um, gathered in (excuse the tmi). 36" with full nipple room but that would prob give me far too roomy cups, I think.

I already know I'm wearing the wrong size at 32E, they feel wrong in every direction, I'm just not sure where to go from here! Thanks

LoveIsTheDrug · 15/02/2014 17:03

So, by the chart thing up thread, I should try 28F? Would that be right?

SorrelForbes · 15/02/2014 17:08

Yep, try 28F/FF.

LoveIsTheDrug · 15/02/2014 17:15

Great. Thank you, will do

Notsoskinnyminny · 15/02/2014 19:14

Does anywhere stock 26" bras? DD's wearing a 28DD because that was the smallest back we could find. JL fitter said the cups fitted perfectly (I agree) and suggested we altered the back (poor thing's a petite dot who's unfortunately taken after her mum in the boobage dept as I'm a 32FF)

SorrelForbes · 15/02/2014 19:31

This company make 26" band bras but they're not cheap!

Your other option, as the JL fitter suggested, is to alter the band or use Rixie clips (eBay)

Mandy2003 · 15/02/2014 21:59

I'm still tormented by band size! I measure 36" and did think 36B was the right size for me. That's what my Berlei's are. Since intervention I want to try F or FF but have now tried M&S and Triumph and the bands won't go near me - at least 2 or 3 inches too small. What's going on?!

Have now ordered a Playtex in a 38E and am thinking about my usual Berlei in a bigger cup size?

SorrelForbes · 15/02/2014 22:28

OK, M&S sizing is really off and leads me to believe that their quality control is seriously lacking! I've heard of 28 bands that only stretch to 24"! Added to which is the fact that they don't make an FF or a GG!

I can't comment about Triumph as it's not a brand I wear.

What are your measurements? What happens if you scoop whilst wearing your 36B?

SorrelForbes · 15/02/2014 22:29

Sorry, forgot to ask. When you tried the M&S and Triumph bras, did you try them on back to front first?

Mandy2003 · 15/02/2014 22:45

Oh yes, I was trying to do them up at the front. I can't do anything at any level behind my back due to 2 frozen shoulders Sad

I'd never heard of scooping till I found intervention and there's no way I could do it with the 36B (well not without looking like Lolo Ferrari!)

Mandy2003 · 15/02/2014 22:47

Measurements 36 underbust 43 max leaning over.

It definitely sounds as if you need a bigger cup!

I'd try a brand like Fantasie, Freya or Panache as a starting point. They're all top quality brands with Fantasie being a little 'more mature' in look/style.

Curvy Kate are also good but come up large in the band and small in the cup. They are good for people with wide and/or shallower boobs.

SorrelForbes · 15/02/2014 22:52

Just spotted your measurements; try a 36F/FF. Don't be surprised if you need a bigger cup in some styles. You'll find that some bras just won't work for you at all!

Don't discount trying a 34 too. I know someone who measures 38.5" and wears a 34 as she is quite 'squidgy' and likes a firm band.

Mandy2003 · 15/02/2014 22:53

Thanks again, I'll keep you posted. I have fairly round boobs with little lower surface and I don't want to go all pointy!

SorrelForbes · 15/02/2014 23:08

You might like the Cleo Meg, Melissa, Bella, Marcie. I have deep, round boobs, not that much heavier on the bottom than the top and I love my Cleos. Another favourite is the Panache Idina balconette.

AcaciaBeez · 22/02/2014 18:10

Could I possibly have some help? I thought I'd done it right but I clearly haven't as things still don't feel comfy!

I've measured 29 and 35 and I'm wearing a 30C but the back keeps coming up, cups feel ok but tbh wouldnt know if they were wrong...

SorrelForbes · 22/02/2014 18:25

Okay your measurements suggest a 28F/E or a 30DD/E. If you you scoop do you get overspill? If If the band is rising up it's probably too big and a 28 could be better for you.

AcaciaBeez · 22/02/2014 18:31

If I scoop enough I get overspill - how much scoop is too much scoop?

SorrelForbes · 22/02/2014 20:25

No such thing as too much scoop! If you've got overspill then the cup is too small.
