Bra intervention - have I got this right?

Hi - I'm new, hope its ok to come straight on with a question....I Somehow stumbled across one of the bra intervention threads a couple of weeks ago and have been following them in amazement ever since.

I've always worn an A cup (32/34 pre pregnancy, currently 36A) - never been measured professionally but always done it myself based on the "add 4 or 5 inches" rule. I have pretty much constant back ache and neck pain but never ever imagined this could be caused by boobs as they really are so tiny!

But after reading your fascinating threads, I think I should be a 30/32D! My measurements are 31 under bust, 35 at fullest point when bending over to 90 degrees, and 34 above. Have I got that right? If so I am truly truly in shock that my almost-not-there boobs are a D!!

Thanks

Evening all Smile

SC has some great suggestions. I'd also add a Cleo Juna, Bravissimo Boudoir Beau and Freya Deco to the low side list.

If your boobs are set quite high on your frame, then the distance from your chin to the top of your boobs can be quite small. Balcony styles like the first two I've listed can stop the bra looking like a vest! Be aware though, that the Juna straps are only half adjustable so not good if you usually have to hoist them up by a lot.

ButWhhhyyyMummy · 30/06/2013 21:18

No I haven't, I did mean the soft ones. I will give the anita wired ones a try thank you!

Can I be cheeky and ask where you think is the best place to find them please

Lozislovely · 30/06/2013 21:22

Urgh - must have tried 20 bras on over the past couple of days - didn't get on with any M&S 34f/ff - uber tight on the band. Didn't have any 36's to try - though not sure it would have right to jump to 36f/ff or go for 36e??

Went to my local Debenhams today and they've just moved the lingerie dept so it was a bit all over the place. They had nothing in my size in anything I like (all a bit frumpy) and I was getting so hot and bothered I left.

Might try to get to a bravissimo this week as I've had a look on their site and they have some lovely styles.

The main thing I still want is cleavage but from the bras I tried on today I was met with 'keep em far apart from each other' and they looked 'flat' rather than voluptuous Hmm

lookout · 30/06/2013 21:26

married I have a Deco and find it too high under the arm Confused. The distance between my chin and boobs is definitely small, so I will try the other bravissimo you suggest. I do usually have to hoist, so the Cleo might not work for me. Thanks again, you guys are all fabulous Smile

SorrelForbes · 30/06/2013 21:36

lookout I find that my Cleo Juna gives pretty good lift so it might be worth a try.

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/06/2013 21:36

Lookout I would say my boobs are quite high too (flashing bras and cleavage in dresses that shouldn't have cleavage is a frequent problem!

Lozis - if you prefer cleavage styles then try Freya Deco, Curvy Kate (smoothie, elegance, tempt me, wild), Bravissimo Satine, Bravissimo dixie etc, Wonderbra everyday t shirt (simple but good), Ewa Michalak S or PL styles

marriednotdead · 30/06/2013 22:22

Another Bravissimo one that's really low at the sides is the Laurel. The Fantasie smoothing (in a cup smaller) also works quite well.

A way of avoiding the rubbing on the side of the cups sometimes is to choose a Fantasie style cut 'in' at the armpits like the Rebecca and Esme. They are not my cup of tea, shapewise, but really suit lots of people.

ComfortablyDumb · 01/07/2013 09:46

Thanks Sorrel I know it sounds very silly, but it really did make me quite Sad for the rest of the day but I now have a 'BeyondShit' mantra to cheer me up Grin

I will have another go, but will have to wait for another childfree time (and for bruised ego to recover)

Don't think I can face contacting them. Not sure what I could say. I didn't like your staff member & some internet people said she is wrong too, so there? ConfusedBlush

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2013 10:14

I'd say exactly that tbh. They are so arrogant and unwilling to listen to the feedback they get about their bra fitting service.

Have you read the secret shopper reports on Bra Guru's blog? All those were sent to M&S but to no avail.

Having said that, it's baby steps AFAIC. These days, after many interventions by yours truly, none of my close family or friends buy their bras from M&S.

lookout · 03/07/2013 11:55

I have made a note of them and will get some to try when my purse is a little healthier! Having spent over £100 on all new bras a little over 4 months ago I can't really justify doing it again yet. Might try and just get one for my holidays though, I hate having my bra showing under vests.

mumof2monsters · 11/07/2013 18:27

Hi am new to all this bra intervention but someone on another thread recommended it. I have for many years worn a 36d bra. I am a size 12 in clothes. I measured myself and am 32 around the bottom of the bra and 39 when leaning over so what size should I wear? I prefer wired bras for support. I have always felt that my boobs make me look bigger than I am :( Last time M&S measured me they suggested 34-36D.

Advice please thanks.

sparkle12mar08 · 11/07/2013 18:42

Try a 32F Mumof2. A well fitting bra will lift your boobs back to where they should be and gives most women the appearance of an instant half-stone weight loss!

mzdemeanour · 11/07/2013 19:47

Have any of you bra wonders got any suggestions for possible styles to try for me? I like fantasie elodie and savannah but sometimes find the central gore hurts/rubs between my breasts. Am a 30f/32e and need a lot of support for my spaniel ears. TIA for your help.

frenchfancy · 11/07/2013 20:30

Hi mumof2 it was me that recommended you look on this thread, I've been really worried that you thought I was rude Blush 32F sounds right (same size as me) but in some styles/makes you might be a 34E. Added to that the problem of finding 32F on the high street of course. I was in the large Primark on Oxford street the other day. Masses of bras, not one in my size Sad When you do get the right size you will be amazed at the difference it makes, to the way you look and your posture.

sparkle12mar08 · 11/07/2013 21:11

Brastop is your friend for cheap larger cup bras with free returns!

MrsAmaretto · 11/07/2013 21:33

Hello, I've got a few questions, if anyone could help?

Could somebody help me with what size range I should order? I'm 34.5 around, & 43.5, bending over. So I think I should order 34G for starters, but what other sizes do you recommend?

Also I've one breast smaller than the other (used to be nearly a cup size in difference) is there any styles I should keep away from or you would recommend?

And finally, I stopped bf 3-4 weeks ago & I'm feeling very empty/saggy. Will my breasts firm up or are these my new boobs???

Can't wait to get into non feeding bras!!

Thank you for your help, these threads have been enlightening.

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/07/2013 21:55

MrsAmaretto, try a 34G and probably GG. However, if there are particular bras you like post links as between us we've probably tried every damn bra in the country so can advise on fit for specifics.

Have a look at thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk for info on asymmetry and how to manage it.

Personally, my post baby/milk (I didn't actually bf for any length of time) boobs were very empty and saggy. Whilst they haven't returned to their former glory, they are substantially better than they were.

MrsAmaretto · 11/07/2013 23:21

Thank you!

outoffuel · 12/07/2013 21:12

OK, I'm feeling brave and know I need new bras, as currently fall into that 36A camp!

I am 32.5cm around, and 37cm dangling!

I am not well-endowed (2 asprins on a draining board)- but my bras are not suiting me and doing nothing to flatter. In fact, they are digging in under the bust.

What size should I be trying on?

TIA.

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/07/2013 21:14

OK, in general you need around a 32D/DD

They're digging in because the back isn't giving enough support so everything collapses forward.

outoffuel · 12/07/2013 21:17

.... oooooohhhhhh
and exhale.

Feel like Pamela Anderson now! Positively Busty!

No, thank you for taking the time to let me know. If I go to M&S should I look for that size, or are there better bras for the smaller cupped lady?!? (Feel like I'm talking in 'are you being served' lingo!!)

marriednotdead · 12/07/2013 21:17

I'd start with a 32D and DD (I assume you meant inches there!)

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/07/2013 21:18

TBH, M&S bras aren't great - if you have somewhere like Debenhams or JOhn Lewis you will get a much better range of bras to try on. Even better if you have a Bravissimo of course!

Evening Married!

outoffuel · 12/07/2013 21:21

OK. Well I've got a birthday coming up, and am going to the big smoke for the day- so will try and find a Bravissimo and get these bad boys properly under control! (I will however be walking like a proud peacock from now onwards!).

lookout · 13/07/2013 13:37

Took reception of a Freya half-cup this morning and have just tried it on with all my low cut tops and vests and it is perfect! Doesn't show at the top or under the arm! HOORAY!! Thanks so much for all your advice, I reeeaaaally appreciate it. One happy customer here Smile
