La Redoute- warning

Tweet2tweet · 02/05/2013 16:12

I bought something from La Redoute and paid by credit card. They sent the wrong size and was terrible quality. Sent back and they accepted return. However didn't return to my card but opened a credit account with their provider and returned amount to it. I didn't ask for a credit account and wasn't informed about this, found out by checking my bank account.

Just called them and they said should be returned to my credit card in next few days. I am not confident about this and wanted to share so no one else is scammed by them. I am considering reporting them to the Financial Ombudsman.

I had a bad experience with them a few years ago - they kept incorrectly charging me a late fee and then refunding it for several months, with me ringing up each time. I was just forgetting about it enough to look at them again so thanks for posting.

It's a shame as some of their stuff was nice, although sizing was all over the place. There's definitely a gap in the market for a midpriced catalogue of simple, good quality basics that (a) isn't Boden and (b) doesn't just reproduce the more nylony bits of the high street.

That's terrible MBlady, I think that they are chancers! I agree about there being a gap in the market though. Becoming harder to find clothes not made from plastic fibres that don't cost£££. I try the get things from places like Toast/COS in the sale as they seem to be some of the only places that don't mix everything with polyester.

I've never had a problem with them tbh, I've been shopping there for about 15 years? and though the quality has gone down, so I rarely find anything now, I still think they are on the straight and narrow - not your typical scam set up anyway. They're far more user friendly than somewhere like 'Very; or Additions etc, if something does go wrong.

don't panic - they seem, to me, to mean well even if they cock up from time to time.

Sorry to hear about this Tweet2tweet, thank you for letting us know - I will add them to my list of online retailers to avoid.

I have had problems with Very and with H&M opening credit accounts without my asking for them and taking ages to close them when I have asked them to, they're also on my avoid list. Very were a nightmare and at one point even refused to reply to my emails as they wanted more personal details from me, to prove I was me Confused I had to threaten them with the Ombudsman to get my credit account - that I had not asked to open and which I had repeatedly told them to close - closed.

I hope you get your money back soon, and I agree there is a gap in the market - Boden has got silly expensive and irritating (£30 odd for a decent t-shirt, having to look for codes all the time instead of just having lower prices, bonkers garish prints).

Hehe x-post about Very!

Just received an invoice from La Redoute for packaging and delivery. Strange: they admit they failed to deliver.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.
