Breton striped top
Jeans (narrow leg)
White Converse

This is the current uniform at my children's school gate. I'd be interested to know if there are regional variations.

Agree with wobbly tum comment.

My vogue subscription came with a copy of miss vogue yesterday. There is an article on crop top. That is definitely a non mum look if there is such a thing! I wonder how many mums can pull off the l

Phone!

I mean can pull off a look with a bare midriff.

LittleFrieda · 02/05/2013 12:03

Y y to those long casual scarves too. I wear one of those pretty much every day to try and individualise my uniform.

Our school obviously isn't ver fashionable.
There are three camps
A) bootcut jeans, tee-shirt, with or without hoodie with trainers (I am in this camp)
B) leggings (often a bit too see through) tee shirt and flip flops
C) baggy tracksuit bottoms, baggy t-shirt and ugg style boots.

I haven't ever seen the stylish mums I read about on here.

LittleFrieda · 02/05/2013 12:11

But there are lots of tops that cover the bare midriff, it doesn't have to be a stripy Breton. Grin

That's a stylish mum at our school gate. Faded and frayed at the bottom washed out bootcut jeans, uggs, parkas, trainers, hoodies etc is the norm. I'm being serious too. I'm in the NE.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/05/2013 12:25

oh and leggings with short tops. Leopard print is also in vogue in the NE

Our school has a definite city Boho group:

Tweedy jacket/coat, skinny jeans, trendy and preferably obscure band t shirt, lots of jewellery, slouchy boots (never uggs) sunglasses. Men are cultivating beards, knitted jumpers and slouchy skinny jeans.

Then there are the rest of us, a rag tag assortment of jeans, jumpers, all weather North Face jackets, suits, jogging bottoms and fake Uggs.

"Yar Cap'n all I can see is white trousers and breton tops. Would someone please fetch an accordion so y'all can dance the Sailor's bleedin' Hornpipe. Yes I am dressed like Alanis Morrisette, thanks for noticing!"

Smile At my girls school the uniform is.... Either skinny or bootcut jeans, breton top or tailored stripy shirt and boots or converse on nicer days. I did notice that this Winter, we all semed to be wearing North Face Chocolate Arctic parkas! Smile

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 02/05/2013 14:29

It's been a while since I had to stand at the school gate but at Ds' primary the main uniforms were pjs, leggings and uggs and salwar kameez.

None of your breton tops in Nottingham's inner city!

LittleFrieda · 02/05/2013 14:37

Salwar kameez lovely but pyjamas? Uggs? Leggings? Ugh.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 02/05/2013 15:26

Often the salwar kameez would be worn with Uggs. Mind you, looking stylish was the last thing on my mind taking DS to school!
