How would you wear this......?

I'm going out tonight for a bite to eat with the girls. Nothing too flash or glam, just a meal at a local restaurant. I brought this ages ago and haven't worn it so thought I might dig it out but I've no idea what to style it with. It's far too short to be worn as a dress - it's more of a dress / tunic type thing. I also don't want to be cold so need to put something over it I think.

Any thoughts.....?

I would probably go for some light coloured jeans underneath (probably slim fitted rather than skinny) with nude heels and maybe a pashmina/scarf incase its cold.

Or fitted brown trousers like these in mole

ok great, I have all the things you have mentioned - what colour / length cardigan would you go for - that's what I'm struggling most with.....

Do you think black leggings would be too harsh against the lighter colour of the top?

Gunmetal grey leggings, a biker jacket and wedge ankle boots. Or just summery wedges...

Black leggings would look bad.

Soft grey boys cardi would look good.

nilbyname · 25/04/2013 15:54

Boyfriend cardi!!

I think my nude shoes are going to look the wrong colour against the grey. I'm really struggling with the colour palette here I think. I have grey cardigans but I think they are going to be the wrong length with this, they are generally hip sort of length.

Amrapali, I do have grey skinnies too - no biker jacket though - and I wouldn't wear a jacket for dinner so I need some warmth - any ideas? I have black or grey ankle boots and shoes in just about every colour you can imagine.

Do you think brown would go - or would it look odd with the grey belt?

grey leggings or light coloured cigarette pants, grey cardi or shrug kind of thing and wedges

sweetheart · 25/04/2013 16:07

would teal go? I have a a teal cardigan......or is that too much green?

OP posts:

or a mint one

Mint might be better but theres so much variation in mint or even teal you'd have to try it on.

Def not black leggings, grey skinnies would be good with grey ankle boots. What colour of blazers do you have?

sweetheart · 25/04/2013 16:38

I have blazers in black, navy blue, cream (which I've never worn!) or a sort of light pink / peach colour. Not sure a blazer will sit at the right length though and there might be a bulge where the waistband ties. I've got a cropped denim jacket or a leather coat too.

Grey skinny might work well with probably a deep purple pair of shoes. Try this combo, might work.

I'd go with the cropped denim jacket...
