Nice tea dress recommendation

Would like to get a nice tea dress - one that could be worn to the office or dressed up for a night out. Would like one that isn't too short - just above the knee would be nice. Anyone seen anything like this?!

I have lots of tea dresses, from charity shop finds to silk ones from kew etc. (I luffs them). My most recent two were from peacocks of all places!!

Lady Vintage London!-online shop that have lovely tea, swing and wiggle dresses. They are in the £30-50 range and are great quality-I have 5!

I've got a few off eBay recently - top shop and miss selfridge. F&F at tescos have come up trumps a few times also.

Ash, what are the fit of lady v swing dresses like? I am short 5ft3- will I be swamped? There are some beautiful dresses there. I was hoping to order a few to try for work. Would they be suitable for work with a cardie or too dressy. I am working with the public but in a non formal capacity.

I am 5'6 and the swing dresses sit just slightly above my knee so should be a nice length on you. The Hepburn dresses are slightly longer I think and the tea dresses are a bit shorter so you should find something to suit you!

The swing dresses are lovely material and fully lined too. Honestly for the price they are really great. I don't find them too dressy but tbh I don't really do "casual"Grin I always tend to be overdressed for any occasion!

Thanks Ashoe! Will be ordering a few to try. Would you say they are true to size?I am a small 12, occasionally a 10 because I have a small bust.

cocolepew · 25/04/2013 19:56

Wallis has some nice spotty ones.

JackieTheFart · 25/04/2013 23:24

Yes the Lady V Hepburns are longer.

louise2011, you are best taking your measurements and buying according to those. I bought a hepburn dress based on my measurements and it fits a dream.

Ashoething · 26/04/2013 12:47

I find them quite roomy in the bust-I have norks-so you might be able to get away with the 10.

Not sure if the peterpan collar renders this not a tea dress. Nice though.

Hope someone can help. I have been invited to a 60's party, want a nice dress, tht I can use again, would a swind dress be ok?
