yes start there. I am also 28.5 under but find a 30 much more comfy. the 28 felt like they stopped me breathing!

28C.

Good luck. I'm a 28 back too and we are an unwanted underclass with most retailers. Shop online is my advice.

I would try a 28C, 28D, 30C and see what seems best. Remember to scoop :)

Ok thank you.

If you go up a back size, you go down a cup size. For instance, I measure a 30c but so hard to find on the high street so I go for 32b instead (if you hold them up side by side you'll notice the cups are exactly the same size, same as 34a cup being the same as a 32b).

Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 13:39

If you are only 28.5 then you shouldn't need a 30 back.

I measure 29 underband and a 30 is too loose. If you can pull the bra band away from you 2 inches or more then it is too loose and will offer no support.

I wear a 28 on the loosest hook and then move in as it stretches with wear/age.

rubyhaha · 24/04/2013 13:39

agree that if you go up a band size you should in theory go down a cup size but also varies from one brand to another. my measurements suggest 28e but my comfiest well fitted ones are 30e and 30dd.

rubyhaha · 24/04/2013 13:42

have had moderate success in debenhams sale rack also m&s final reductions most likelu because anyone who buys their bras can't thinkably be a 30e!

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/04/2013 13:42

28C as a starting point (they are rare but M&S do a few)
You might also want to try 30B and 30C because if you can find ones with the right cups it is very easy to adjust the back.

Up a cup down a back only works up to a point - really when you are between sizes. I've seen a few people who go up 2 or 3 backs (and down a corresponding number of cups!) and that's an epic fail normally!

I'm a 28 back too & get Freya bras. Am currently bfing & use panache from Bravissimo. If you're going to go & get measured, go to bravissimo or Leia, don't even bother with anywhere else

Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 13:53

Don't go to M&S whatever you do.

They'll put you in a 44AA or something.

Debenhams are worth a look - store stocks are woeful for smaller back sizes but online is better.

Ebay shops for Panache, Freya etc that do 28s are excellent.

Whereabouts are you?

I'm really lucky to have a fantastic lingerie factory shop/outlet about 15 miles away where they are sooooo helpful and know how to get you kitted out properly.
