Do shoes worn bare foot ALWAYS hurt you?

LadyMountbatten · 22/04/2013 18:07

Or is it just me? I bought some loafers to wear sans socks and am busy wearing them in. Mate look askance! She never has this. Now I do have skinny long chicken feet so getting shoes that are slim enough is a big deal.

So here I am, wearing them with socks around the house as they pinch on my heels.

AM I alone?

Would they look daft on size 8 trotters??

snoworneahva · 25/04/2013 11:03

I thought the Saltwater sandals they looked a bit geeky from pics, i think alexa chung is a fan but they are cut beautifully, the ankle strap is high and reminds me slightly of a gladiator sandal. I have gold and I love them so much. I want to buy a pair for dd too, she has requested pink. It's great to be wearing sandals that actually buckle up rather than slip on.

squoosh · 25/04/2013 11:08

AndTwoBits you should definitely get a pair, I know I'm going to!

Yonihadtoask · 25/04/2013 11:08

I like the look of the Saltwater sandals. I bet they are narrow fitting?
I have chunky feet. Sturdy some may say Grin

AndTwoBits · 25/04/2013 11:12

The red are adorable and would go with most of my wardrobe.. Oh the temptation..And the dream of comfort..

AndTwoBits · 25/04/2013 11:32

Right I've only gone and done it. They better feel like slippers on my poor feet!!

yellowhousewithareddoor · 25/04/2013 12:03

I'm tempted. Any real shops sell them that I can try them on? Or its walking sandals for me . . .

AgathaF · 25/04/2013 13:53

Hmm, they look nice in that picture, but I bet she has dainty size 5s.

I always feel so clompy on holiday, plodding around in my varried assortment of padded-style flip flops, whilst the local elegant women trot about on dainty, strappy heels.

yellowhousewithareddoor · 25/04/2013 15:32

I can't do flip flops - can't keep them on at the back and can't stand anything in between my toes.... they hurt :(

yellowhousewithareddoor · 25/04/2013 15:51

I'm thinking about these -

Not sure about taupe or pink for fun. They'd be mainly with jeans but I guess would pass with a dress...

LadyMountbatten · 25/04/2013 15:52

Christ

They are VILE VILE VILE.
IM NOT A BLOODY NUN

I've been desperately trying to involve what a wardrobe would contain that would mean those red Saltwater sandals would go with everything in it....I just can't. Surely you'd have to actually be Alexa Chung or Taylor Swift to carry them off?

(I say this as someone who possesses not one iota of funk, and cannot carry anything like that off without looking like a scary child from a horror film).

woozlebear · 25/04/2013 16:12

If you're hankering after hiking sandals, I highly recommend taking up hiking and going on nothing but hiking holidays. Excellent method of being able to look truly frightful but be disgracefully comfy, yet not elicit any judgy looks. I also want a dog, mainly for this reason, You can wear all kinds of nonsense and as long as you have a dog in tow, all is forgiven.

AndTwoBits · 25/04/2013 17:04

Well they will hopefully go with my navy skinny jeans, which I wear all year with red/grey/navy/cream/black t shirts. That's pretty much my wardrobe! I hope to buy a few maxi dresses with short sleeves this year too to add to the mix but that's another thread..I'm taller than Alexa and a sixe 12 so a good bit bigger than her but I hope I can carry them off!

AndTwoBits · 25/04/2013 17:05

Size 12 that is..

AgathaF · 25/04/2013 17:19

That's very true woozle, apart from when you bump into droves of fellow dog walkers in their bloody Hunter wellies Grin. That makes my teeth grind.

herbaceous · 25/04/2013 18:54

Gah. Stepped out today in shoes with no hose for the first time this year, and was doing well for a few hours. But limped home with red-raw balls of my feet. What's that about? The rest of my feet were fine. The shoes were leather-lined, and everything. Surely it can't be time for popsocks?

snoworneahva · 25/04/2013 19:00

I have a pair of wedged camper sandals I love, I paid £80 for them and I can't wear them for longer than 5mins. Sad

BitOutOfPractice · 25/04/2013 19:46

THank god the OP came back and talked sense. They are VILE.

Sorry I'm not really

valiumredhead · 26/04/2013 08:29

Foot Silk spray is what you need and use Vaseline for any bits that rub.

Mrsrobertduvall · 26/04/2013 11:44

I have boots on again today.
Problem solved.

AndTwoBits · 29/04/2013 16:39

Well my Saltwater sandals arrived this avo and they are gorgeous! I got the red originals. They go lovely with indigo skinny jeans rolled up and if I get some maxi dresses this year they should go with them too. I have pottered round the house in them for a few hrs now and no rubbing or sore bits but I have been lulled into a false sense of security this way before but I am hopeful these will be my every day of summer shoes now! Fingers crossed..

snoworneahva · 29/04/2013 16:44

So pleased! Mine were very snug and I was convinced the blisters would appear and packed plasters just in case but all was fine. I love my red ones, love my gold ones too...Smile

poozlepants · 29/04/2013 16:54

I was going to buy a lovely pair of tan loafers but was worried about the whole blister thing. Saw a cheap copy in Deichmann which weren't so beautiful but were so soft.
After this thread I'm off to buy the cheapo ones that won't blister me aching feet.
I have a very ugly pair of hiking sandals which I wear every summer- they are so comfy and no blisters. They also balance out my ginormous calves.
