Am looking at some skinny trousers on ebay. I am an M and S 10 long. How do Next sizes seem? Small/generous?

Am a bit of a Next virgin!

Next sizing I have always found generous. I'm a 12 in next jeans/trousers but a 14 elsewhere

JamEyelid · 21/04/2013 14:30

Everybody says they are generous but I find them quite small compared to other places which is rubbish as their petite trousers are the perfect length for me. I think it must be my shape.

BinksToEnlightenment · 21/04/2013 14:30

Yes, generous is the word!

Startail · 21/04/2013 14:57

Next are sensible, Gap are mean, M&S are huge and H&M are totally mad, at least that's DD1 and I's conclusion.

Next are the only place we can do mail order and be sure it fits.

It's all over the place inntermsof sizing. I can do a 14 in some jeans and need a 16 in some tailoured trousers.

The tops are really variable as well. Read the online reviews for guidance.

In terms of skinny jeans the reviews last year tended to suggest they were cut a bit on the mean side. My experience is if they have 1% elastine they are true to size, if 2% they will stretch so it is best to go down a size to avoid sagging.

practicality · 21/04/2013 15:34

Tailored, even.

Startail · 21/04/2013 15:43

DDs next skinny jeans are perfect. That is to say a touch curve hugging for her DM, No way can I call her my little girl. (She is 15 and taller than me)

DolomitesDonkey · 21/04/2013 15:49

Everyone says generous, I don't think they are particularly - I'm hourglass -ie fat arse.

NotTreadingGrapes · 21/04/2013 15:51

Thanks all! Will go and look at reviews.

I ordered some skinnies from Next and they were ridiculously big. I think you should consider going down a size. All the clothes Next seem to be very big sizes

XiCi · 21/04/2013 17:13

Probably same as M and S sizes though so if you are a 10 there then the Next 10 should probably fit

Startail · 21/04/2013 17:27

DD and me are large of bum and have hips, so I would say next are cut for Women.

DD1 is a 12 in next and most other places, but her M&S school trousers are 10's and huge.

And don't get me started on tops I have 12,14 and 16's all of which fit. I have a 12 and a 16 bought from New Look at the same time Confused

mybelovedmonster · 21/04/2013 17:31

Next jeans seem to be cut for those with hips, so if you're narrow of hip then they'll seem massive.

Zara clothes seem to be made for stick insects :)

I reckon M&S and Next are fairly similar size wise though.

YoniTrix · 21/04/2013 18:24

I find next sizing generous.

NotTreadingGrapes · 21/04/2013 20:09

Thanks lovelies!

Have got the size 10, I have no hips to speak of (am a pretend man Grin ) in that my waist is big and hips only 1 inch wider. I remember now a couple of summers back having Next trousers and they were generous.

fat Face is another one which is ginormous. I am usually a 12-14 in a top, but FF are massive.

I'd say they are pretty similar to M&S. I'm a 10 in both.
